Hope you don't mind a new fan Carl?
Phip!

It seems that I barely missed it, didnt read this thread for ages. Fatal mistake. So wide range of stuff like 24 card monte to Swing low or absolutely weird Jitterbug. Man...Fantastic music, Carl you beat many of the radio stuff easily in my honest opinion. Definately bookmarked.

Cheers

Oh okay you just laugh it up now. But when the actual Cuickens come you'll know just how different they are to cHickens! And they're going to be very mad at everyone here for compareing them to chickens. Believe me they are nasty, secretive people. Watch your back! Wait...OMG!!!! Sleepwalker is a CUICKEN!!!! Look he's out to get you, he's drinking from remains of a human skeleton! That's what those sick, sick giant cuickens do! Watch yourself.

And no my backup don't drink. They are very moral. But we do carry lots of axes and dynomite, just in case. You know if a canibal chicken such as slepwalker tries to keep us in coups and cook as like some sickafant! :P

No Alex, that certainly is not out of place! :P Only the random chicken/cuicken posts we older members have been making on the 'introduce yourselves' topic are. I am sorry, I'm supposeing those were some how my fault, ha!

As one of the few sane members here, you're going to be found very welcome here! Although we seem a bit like wackos at times, we're not scary really! You'll like it here, you can get lots of friendly faces, advice and tips.

@Leauge, I hope those chicken's input in that video were voluntery, or else I'm gonig to feel real bad for finding it cute and funny! Ah the stuff you can find on Youtube.

Howdy,

This is a great guitar site. I've been using it for months and just noticed 'the forum' I actually bookmark some of the categories such as 'scales', 'chords', etc. I especially like the way the site is easy to use without a lot of distracting whirly-gigs advertising 'whatever'.

Lately I've been studying music theory. It's quite interesting. Being a bit of a science geek I'm often wondering the 'why' of some of the properties of notes and chords...not too sure what is based on the physics of sound and what is based on convention.

I wish I had access to a site like this when I first picked up the guitar. I had a guitar lesson book with songs in it I had never heard of ...the only other tool was an AM radio to tune into a top 10 station. On the positive side, we old guys sure learned to develop our ear.

Me: Old, I didn't know there was music made after the mid 70's. I've been a geologist for 30 plus years and my guitar is often my best friend when out in the boonies. I dabble in everything from Classical to Flamenco to Rock...often as not I improvise and make a song sound good even if I'm not to sure what the theory behind it is.

I'm a case of little natural talent (maybe a 1.5 out of 10) but a lot of stickum.

You guys have really excelled at keeping this site top notch.

Hey Raptor, welcome to the site! We welcome "Old" folk with open arms! You guys are the ones with the great sense of humour! You sound like you've got the thirst for knowledge! That's great to hear, keep up the studying and feel free to ask as many questions as you want and we'll gladly help out!

Hey,
like raptor claws I didn't really notice the Form on the site for a while. I've used the scale and chord (awesome) tools for months now without noticing. oops.
Anyway, i've been playing for two years seriously, and I'm mostly into Rock, Metal, etc...
Anyway, just figured i would introduce myself.

@ raptorclaws,
Welcome sir! (I use "sir" because I learned to respect my elders!) Haha I'm Phip, I'm 55 and that makes us both "sirs". Anyway, just a word of caution, being a geologist. Be careful; you just might dig yourself up! LOL (there's a song in there somewhere). Welcome again!

My name is Andrew and i currently live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am 22 years old and have been playing for about 10 years now. I was the first student at my small sh*thole town high school to complete all three parts of the the guitar program. This was of coarse after I already self taught a lot of the basics such as tablature and power chords. I had also spent a couple of years prior to that as 2nd seat violist in orchestra. Unfortunately, despite all the knowledge i had gained from this, i spent the last half of my teenage years misbehaving and addicted to drugs instead of focusing on my music. That being said a lot of that information was lost and i was left with nothing but the rekindled passion and the ability to play the same, moderately difficult songs i had known how to play for years. I have since gotten better and faster than ever in the 2 1/2 years that i have been clean but unfortunately i seem to be starting all over again as far as theory goes. I work full time and go to school full time now but every second i have to spare i spend quenching my thirst for the knowledge of theory, technique, and speed.

Since i have found this site i have gone from the feeling of mediocre to being a fairly knowledgeable, always-trying-to-better-myself musician again. So in other words i would like to thank admin, Jazz_Maverick, Taylor, phip, and everyone else that puts their time and effort into this awesome website and community.

Hello, my name is Casey. I'm 18 and I live in Omaha, Nebraska, though I lived in Phoenix, Arizona(or the outskirts of it) for 17 years of my life. I have been playing for about 7 years now, all self taught, so I'm not really that great, though friends say otherwise. I love this site, great environment, easy to use, and very helpful people here as well. Well, this post was about 6 months after I joined, lol.

*and if you have a facebook account, I do have a page for the band I am in, we are called Beast Hammer. No music up yet, haven't had a whole lot of time to record stuff yet, but in due time!*
@punkrawk101

Hello Andrew! I used to live in Phoenix, Arizona, so the southwest is kind of my home as well. Anyways, good luck with your music, job, school, and bright future! :)

Haha yeah you'll all soon learn that all the older members like to tease me about my obsession with chickens. All of you go ahead and join them. Really, I can take it. Because I know bad things will happen in future for it! :P

(it will be karma, I swear. Nothing suspiciously intentional will happen to those members...)
