I'm a guitarist, but I'm more of a Keyboardist. I just recently started a band with two other guitarist. I bring this up to see your experience with bands you where in, and the keyboardists you may have worked with. Story's, things you liked about you keyboardist, things you didn't. Tell me anything that comes to mind. Grated I'm looking for anything that will help me and my guitarist band mates.

Never worked with a pianist, other than myself hehe. If you check out my profile you can check out all my personal music projects and my work with other musicians.

I think the most important thing to know when starting a new band, is to be honest with each other. If you think your guitar players riff sucks, you need to tell him. Same goes for everyone else in the band. Also, do not be afraid of or offended by your band mates criticism.

In 2007, I was doing some session work for a guy. This was the first song we did together. He wanted a solo, but he didn't tell me how he wanted it to sound. Ok, sounds easy enough. I sent him at least 20 different tracks. None of them worked for him. So finally, I called him up and said look man, I've given you my best; everything I've got. What do you want from me?

The problem was, he didn't know how to be honest and just tell me that what I was doing so far was the furthest thing from what he wanted. But as it turned out, all he wanted was simple "screaming" pentatonic-ey solo. Took me one take.

Moral is, if your band mates don't know what you want, or you don't know what your band mates want, you won't ever get anywhere and you will end up arguing about everything.

Best of luck man.

Rock on!

Thank you so much GS124, This is so far one the best pieces of advice anyone has given me so far. I thought this before but this really but some light down on the actions so far. Thank you for the reminder.
Many Blessing to you, and may your guitar burn with fires of the lord of rock him self!
