Hi EMB5490,

Gibson made Nighhawks from about 1993 to 1999, I think. I have pasted in the Wikipedia link below for the real details. It is a sweet axe. Its a three pickup configuration, 5 position switch and a push/pull phase switch using the tone knob. See the link for the details on how all this works. The idea was to produce a Gibson that gave you both standard Gibson sounds but could also provide classic Fender sounds as well. The scale of the fret board is a Fender scale, 25 1/2 Mine has a Floyd Rose Trem that I don't use but it is a wonderful guitar. It cost me $950.00 at Gruhn's guitars in Nashville about 5 months ago over the internet. I expect prices to rise over time as they are no longer made but that's not why I bought it. A guy in my band has two and I liked his. My Brent Mason does something very similar to the Nighthawk but is harder to use to get the tones you want and does not quite have the sounds I truly like but I do use it to record rhythm tracks.

My go to guitars are the American Deluxe Tele and the Nighthawk. These days the 335 rarely comes out of the case. I use the Guild acoustic mostly at home to work up basic ideas. It's a great old guitar, the Guild. I love it. They don't make them anymore and any that you find for sale used, were all made at the Westerly shop in Rhode Island, which is where all the great old Guilds were made before they closed that down.

Just came across this site, thought it was pretty neat. My first guitar was a Global, don't know the model, doesn't have a serial number. It's a decently old guitar, will probably sell it in the near future. My second was a Dillion something or another, looks exactly like the Les Paul Black Beauty but the sound doesn't compare to the Les Paul. My third and fourth, purchased around the same time, are both Washburns, one a Jumbo electric/acoustic, the second an HB-30 semi-hollow. My tools also consist of an Ibanez Gio bass, a couple ukuleles and a mandolin. My Dillion is the most played but I'm looking to get a Les Paul sooner or later. Aside from those, I play the trumpet and just purchased a beautiful new Jupiter (not that I expect many of these guitarists may know what that is). I'm also teaching myself to play the alto saxophone. Anyone know where/how I could go about pricing my Global?

At the moment, I've got two: an Ibanez S Series and a Manuel Rodriguez Model A. The Ibanez has great sound, but needs to be restrung. The Model A is a handmade by the eponymous Spanish luthier, and is probably the best guitar I've ever played. My pride and joy.

Yamaha make good guitars. I learned to play on a thirty-year old classical made by them. Had good sound, considering that it's so old and had been through several repairs, including a car accident.

I know it's an old thread, but is the Squier a Fender, cause I don't know a lot about electric guitars, just stuff I read on the forum and Wikipedia.org.
