Exotic Scales

This lesson is basically going to tell you the basics of a couple of exotic scales. Hope you all understand.

The Enigmatic Scale

This exotic scale was made by some Italian dude called Giuseppe Verdi. Its really strange sounding, Joe satriani used it in his song "The Enigmatic". I don't know how to insert sharps so I'll just write "sharp".

It uses the formula:
T - m2 - M3 - sharp4 - sharp5 - sharp6 - M7 - 8ve

So starting on a G it would be:
G, A sharp, B, C sharp, D sharp, E sharp, F sharp, G

When descending it is:
T - m2 - m3 - 4 natural - sharp5 - sharp6 - m7 - 8ve
So on G it would be:
G, F sharp, E sharp, D sharp, C, B, A sharp, G

Chord progrerssions in the enigamatic scale are:

+ sus4 maj. maj.-5 + dim.triad sus4

maj.-5 min. sus-sharp4 maj. (-3) (-9) sus2
