Bones From The Coop
by Ambientrage (Sep 11, 2008)
Kids and adults alike! How are you? That is of no true consequence. These are just a series of wedges and bones and general slabs of aural goodness I yanked from the back of the coop. So, hope you enjoy. All bits and pieces are assumed to be in standard tuning, that is to say, EADGBE, or EBGDAE for those of you who read backwards like I do every once in a blue moon.
The wedges are named according to the preceding text hidden in the equals signs.
~ - Vibrato
h/p - Hammer-on, Pull-off
x - Trill
b - bend
- slide up
/ - slide down

=============Bluesy Folk=========================
-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
-------------8~~--7~~----------------------------
----------5-----------7-----10-7-----------------
------5-7---------------6------------------------
5---------------------------8--5-----------------
(The fingers weren't too sure when they played this one.
But you can attribute some wonderful things to improvisation!)
==============Up and Down=========================
---9h10p9-----------------------------------------
10--------10-9~~----------------------------------
-----------------11~------------------------------
----------------------11-9b-------------------
---------------------------------11-12-11-9-/6-9~-
------------------------------------------10/7-7--
(Was supposed to be longer, with a higher ascending bit,
but I figure the descending bit is complex enough to
make up for the small ascending part.
Watch out for the double stops at the bottom!)
===============Wandering Wondering================
------------------------4p0--7----------7p5---------
-4-4h5-----------4--2--------9-7-5--4h5-----7p5p4p0-
-------4---6--8--------------------4----------------
----------------------------------------------------
-4------------------2--------------4----------------
-----------------0-----------0----------------------
(Have you ever gone wandering, and gotten lost?
Perhaps you would understand that a wedge like this
will explain it. Fingerpicking is a must here.)
===============Chops and Chips======================
---3---------5-7b8--5-7b8r7/3-1---3-0--7--3-5--7-5-3
-----3-35~~--------------------3---5--8--1-3--3-3-3
0---------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------
0---------------------------------------------------
(Just another wedge to jam out with)
==============Boogiepop==============================
----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------
--2---2---2---2--3-35-57--753-----------------------
--2-4-2---2-4-2--3--3--3--333-----------------------
0-------3-------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------
(Yeah. There's a specific timing to this, but I can't
represent properly with just text. Forgive me, but
wedges like this are just an unfortunate side effect
to the prolonged exposure to a lack of rhythmic notation.)
==================Legato Phrases====================
----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------2b3r2p0
-----------------------------------0h2h3p2h0--------
------------------0000-2h3h4-2h3h4------------------
-0000-2h3h4-2h3h4-----------------------------------
(Not so much a wedge as it is just an exercise
in building up one's speed in legato phrasing;
You could try playing staccato for a fun time.)
====================Ejwyn===========================
-----3--------------------------3-------------------
-------35/3---------------3-3----35~~~------------
---2---------2h3-0---------2-2----------------------
---2---------------2---4-2-0-0----------------------
-------------------0---2-0--------------------------
0---------------------------------------------------
(Wedges that are made of broken chords make me happy.
The guitar tells me that this one sounds a bit folky
if played properly.)
==============Double Double=========================
--3p0------------7h9p7-5-------610-6-8--------1015-
2------5-x-3-x-7-------------6----------8---10-------
---------------------------7--------------9----------
-----------------------------------------------------
0------4---2---5-------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
(Fingerpicking recommended for this wedge. But it's
really just an experiment, again.)
===================Patterns==========================
----1-------3-------4-------6------------------------
--1---1---3---3---4---4---6-----6--------------------
2-------2-------5-------5---------7-8~~--------------
-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
(Based off of B.B.'s box! )
=================Ellipsis============================
---------------------------3-1-0---------------------
---------------------0-13-------1-------------------
---0h2p0-------0h2p0---------------------------------
---------2h3------------------------------2~~~-------
3-------------3---------------------2h3-0-2~~~-------
------------------------------------------0~~~-------
(Wedge intended to practice both jumping around
[just a bit]
and legato.)
=================Word================================
-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
---0---0---0-----------------------------------------
--------------------0-----0--2-----------------------
-2---3---2---0----0-----0----2-----------------------
----------------3-----2------0-----------------------
(Just a little experiment, again.)
=============Smooth Sailing===========================
-------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
-------7----------9--------11--------9-----------------
----11---------11--------9---------9----9h11p9-7-------
--9----------9---------7--------10---------------9-7---
7----------7---------7--------7----------------------7-
(Be nice and calm, else it might do some damage to
your fingers, my friends.)
