If a song is in E minor and had a chord progression of Em, Am, D, what could i use to solo over it? The Em pentatonic?

I don't think that E penatonic minor will work with the A min or the D Maj. I could be wrong though.

Try using the chords to scales tool at the top of the page.

well if D major is the key note, then e penatonic minor would work fine, and you could also use the dorian mode too.

But if it was in the key of D Maj there wouldn't be an A min.

I would use E aeolian because the D don't fit in the E pentatonic.

You can play G Ionian, A Dorian, B Phrygian, C Lydian, D Mixolydian, E Aeolian and F# Locrian. You could also try D Phrygian, that might sound cool.
