I would have to disagree with you Doz my Squire Strat sounds horrible on my 10 watt practice amp and My Pro Series Jackson Kelly sounds way better through that amp. I tried another Squire through a Peavey tube amp (not sure of model) and it sounded better but still pretty bad. I plugged in a U.S.A. Jackson Rhoads and it blew my mind. Anyways I believe bad amp with good guitar sounds better than good amp with bad guitar. The good amp just amplifies the bad guitars sound. Maybe nutter could figure out a formula for what I just explained.LOL.

League: I completely disagree... I'm not sure why you think all amps amplify the same sound. They have a lot more power over the sound (and this isn't really just in my opinion, it's pretty widely accepted amongst guitarists).

same. i agree with doz.

obviously both guitar and amp will make a difference to overall sound quality.

but a good guitar through a poor quality amp cant reach its full potential whereas an average guitar through a good amp will sound significantly better than the same guitar through a poor quality amp.

lol ive been doing my research ;]

in an ideal world id get a new guitar and amp but i dont have the money.

I think we can all agree that a better amp is more important.
