What do they call this?

I was youtubin' and came across some videos of well not really sure what to call it. very fun to watch them play and listen to. two of the links below are on a record label called Candyrat.

does any one else have an opinion on it? Is the the new Shredding?

I think Antoine Dufour is very good. Him and Andy Mckee are considered folk/fingerstyle acoustic players. I agree with you, it's very entertaining to watch that stuff being played.

After reading about Kaki King, she too uses the guitar percussively. Might check some of her stuff out.

If you liked this style Id suggest checking out Don Ross and Micheal Hedges. Don is a monster of this style.

I wouldn't really call it folk, finger style maybe. I think of woody Guthrie, Pete Seegar, and Bob Bylan as folk.

I didn't give it that title. Some of the artists mentioned are often given it though. I don't listen to enough folk or fingerstyle to judge.
