Yeah its not age but what I listen to. I don't much listen to any metal or hard rock, just not my cup of tea. Mostly jazz, blues, old stuff and cont Christian music. Which reminds me back in the 80s or 90s Phil Keggy was voted one of the best 5 guitar players in the world for I think it was 5 years in a rwo, but I don't listen much to him either. he's real good but I don't like his style.

I hope that doesn't mean I'm narrow minded LOL

One of the guitarists I listed, Wes Montgomery, was a jazz guitarist. Check him out, he did a lot of cool stuff.

Wow, thread resurrection!

I'd say something like:
1. Jimmy Page
2. John Frusciante
3. Jimi Hendrix
4. Steve Vai
5. Thom Yorke/Jonny Greenwood/Ed O'Brien (the guys in Radiohead)

no seriously, you don't like his voice on "layla" or "after midnight"?

And Santana's not overrated. ever listen to samba pa ti?
we're gonna hafta agree to disagree (even though i'm right and you're wrong)!

with all the drugs hes done hes lucky he can remember how to speak...let alone sing...and seriously no i dont. i think he sounds like hes a 70 year old man in the middle of the desert gasping for air. santana is overraated, thers much better guitar players then him...but he does play with feeling, i like tht. agree 2 disagree? thts like saaying my father was a terrific athlete...(long pause, with silence of others), he just never played any sports. (btw my grandemother said tht on christmas dinner last year.. it was the funniest thing id heard from her... we wer taking bout how athletic my dads family is, and then trying to defend her family says tht. (im jewish...y was i having christmas dinner...maybe it was haannuckah dinner idk)

Well, he's no Sam Cooke that's for sure, but look at how many hugely successful artists out there have marginal voices (that includes Jimi).
