Okay, i downloaded Audacity last night so i could start recording and editing my work. But I have one small problem that is annoying. I think you might be able to help. here goes:

Whenever I hit the record button, even if a track is selected, it still makes a brand new track and records there. How can I fix this ?
I don't need like 50,000 tracks going for one song. i only need like one, or mostly two tracks (rhythm and lead guitar) because it is only me playing.

So if anybody can give me some help on how to not create a new track every time the record button is pressed, even if I have a track selected, please share. Thanks guys :)

Is Acid Pro free ?
I don't wanna pay for any software.. at least, not over online, cause it isnt always safe.

If it is free, could you gimme a link please ?
If not, can i buy it ina store (and what type of store) ?
Thanks

Hi G.Boy
I've just checked out my own copy of 'Audacity' (the Linux version) and It's doing the same as yours. I've checked preferences and there's nothing their to turn the function off, so the only thing I can suggest is to delete the unrequired tracks on an 'as you go ' basis.

Yeah I was thinking that too y'know, but like, if I delete them, then I'd have delete what I've recorded, because when It makes a new track, it also records on THAT TRACK, and not the one I had previously selected. This sucks it is very gay and annoying :(

Hey, if you want to get low down and cheap look at reaper. it's share ware put it is not crippling or expiring. if you want to purchase a license just drop them $50. It's really pretty good for the cash

I'm glad you like it ,i knew that you would. Now what i did was I had a 1/8 inch jack(headphone type)wired a guitar cord to it and then wired to my speaker of my amp(+ -)I dont have a line out on my beater crate practice amp.Wire that togther very good then run that to your mike in(now this is the trick)you must adjust your mike volume wave volume very carefully if not you have to much power and shit loads of noise, then it will run your amp directly to your puter so you can record,I am sure there are other ways but this is what i did with spare parts and cost me nothing at all but time.Good luck bro and if you have any other questions let me know .....Glad to help, not everyone is made of money and like i said if you want something bad enough you will find away.

How do you wire a guitar cord to a headphone jack ?
Um, where do I put my mic at ? the USB port as it usually is ?
I have a line out on my amps, cause my line 6 goes into my giant bigass kustom 100 watts, and there is 3 line/inputs on it, mic/in1/in2 but only one guitar can play at a time (oh well.)
I don't know a whole lot about wiring stuff up and electronics- I am only a kid.
I have a jack on my PC for speakers (its on the back of it) and another one on the front that doesn't work for some reason.

Thanks fer the help

PS, do you have like msn er aim er something I can talk to you on ? it might be easier cause then it's like live talking instead of like 6 hours later

No i dont have any of that instant stuff but you should be able to run your line out into your mic in but if your mike in doesnt work your kinda screwed anyway
