Hello AGC community!!!!!

First off, I love the collection of scales and stuff on the site.
I definitely.... want to use some of the obscure scales like Jewish or Egyptian. BUT..... I can't find any scales that I recognize from the book I normally use.

I use......

"The Guitarist's Scale Book" Written by Peter Vogl.

For most of the scales in the book he only shows 5 patterns. On this website however, there is 20 patterns (none of which I recognize.)

So I looked for the most common pattern I use to see if I could figure out some sort of point of reference.

(A Major Diatonic Pattern 2) in the book.

When I do the "Full Scale" View which shows every note in the scale I can see the pattern. When I looked through the numbers to see if I could find it I did find it but it has extra notes. That's really my main problem, every scale pattern SEEMINGLY has about 2-5 extra notes.

So I apparently play shorter scale patterns , and when I get on here the scales are all extra long making me wonder if they're correct. I understand how to play the scales on this website but I don't want to start using incorrect info and get messed up. I can't imagine such an extensive database would have any incorrect info so I'm more thinking either I'm just confused or the scales are altered or extended for some reason.

Ideally I would love it if someone who has read the same book to help me but if anyone else has any advice I would very much appreciate it!!!!!!

Now I'm seeing there is a Diatonic scale but it's not Major or Minor it's just called Diatonic. It says Major scales at the top of the list but Major and Minor are combined in there for some reason.
Also what do chords have to do with anything? Shouldn't it be keys?

Sometimes simple questions do not have simple or straight answers :). Those scales are right that what I know.

I dont know what you exactly mean by those "extra notes", but I think you should take a look these two, you could find out answer you looking for, im sorry but im so bad at explaining things :D

Well basically I mean the scale patterns I use from the book are not the same as the ones on this website.

That's it in a nutshell. A very...small nutshell.....a nutshell meant for a small gopher perhaps......

I learned scales from Pete Vogl's scale book

so now on this website the scales don't match......

maybe I need to understand the modes better? IDK I'll figure it out eventually I guess.

allright, lets look at this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK9m-q1kkO8

its Vogl video for scales, look first scale E minor pentatonic

now, take a look in this site Guitar scale tool, and choose E pentatonic minor and click 0 under patterns, then you see only first notes of those scales in neck and that should fit also to those in your book

Thanks bud that is helpful! It occurs to me now that maybe this website doesn't have every single pattern Vogl uses in his book. I think maybe he put the simplest patterns in the book. What I mean by extra notes was I guess it just seems like the scales on this website are longer. For instance I haven't seen any scales with the high e string having notes like " 1 - 3 - 5 " ....if that makes sense. I salute you Mr. Emperor.

I'm playing with some new guys that use the tuning DAEAAe . Not use to this at all and have been giving myself a headache on making chords for this certain tuning. Anybody know of where I can do it the easy way and find a chord chart for this This tuning anywhere?
