I'm looking into getting some software and would like some input on these..
Digidesign Pro Tools M-Powered 8 DAW Software...
Cakewalk SONAR 8.5 Studio...
Steinberg Cubase 5 DAW Software - Education Edition...
Propellerhead Record 1.5 Software

I'm really looking for something user friendly, easy to operate. Any info would help.

Any Cakewalk products are ideal for anyone. They are super easy and chock full of all kinds of goodies. Not only that, but they make products for exactly what you want, from limited packs to full expansion software. I have been using Cakewalk products for almost 5 years and I don't think I will ever switch. My father has used Cakewalk since I can remember. For semi-professional studio software, Cakewalk would be an A+ choice.

Cubase is pretty popular as well. Although, I have found it to be very limited. However, it is super user friendly. So I would rate it a very solid B.

The trick with buying software like this, is not to just look at the most expensive, or the most popular. You need to look for exactly what you want. Because you will find something that fits your exact needs.

What ever you do, I would not recommend digital sounds unless you are planning on being mobile. Nothing beats the real deal.

Rock on!

Thanks for the help guys. I was leaning toward Cubase or Cakewalk so this helped to narrow it down to 2 choices. @GS I don't think I'll go digital man. I got a house full of instruments, may as well put 'em to use. Thanks again.
@Mistaluke I'll most likely pay for it. I'm looking at $150-250 range.

Cubase is better for audio side and cakewalk shine with its midi cababilities. I prefer Cubase of these two. I have no experience with Cakewalk VST properties, but I think Cubase is stronger when it comes to virtual instruments.

Also GUI is better on Cubase imo, but ofcourse these are things what u started to use, there you will stick. Both of products are suberb.
