I dont see how you can possibly say dark side of the moon is worse then ok computer. Arguably without dark side of the moon thered be no ok computer or radio head...

however i still consider this to be one of the best things ever :)

This is completely irrelevant as far as which is better. If you play that game, then nothing in the 1900s or 2000s is worth a lick, because it all stems from music as it evolved over 100s and 1000s of years... I don't disagree that Floyd was a huge influence on Radiohead and that your comment is true, I am simply saying that it doesn't mean that a newer artist can't be better, even if influenced by the older band.

I can't say I ever even heard of Ok Computer. Not to say that it's not good or even great. So, I have to say Dark Side. Dark Side is one of those epic albums that you have to make time to sit and actively listen to.

Wow - this is a loaded question! Do you like John Steinbeck or David Sedaris better? The Bible or the New York Times?

Well I've read many Steinbecks three times so a new David Sedaris is what I'd like today...(for example).

Which is better Ummagumma or Animals? I don't know.

i dont think its like comparing apples and oranges... more like a 1959 les paul and a 2002 reissue les paul...
The orig 1959 influenced the 2002 reissue les paul..... But which is better? yeah... :)

I actually think apples and oranges is a good analogy for comparing these two albums, let alone the artists. I personally like apples just as much as I like oranges. I eat both of them often. I don't listen to Darkside hardly ever but I have listened to it many times over the years. I've never heard OK computer. But I bet you it's good. Just based upon this post and what i've read it's easy for me to see this is a great album and that some would even compare it to dark side of the moon.

Is Britney Spears better than Al DiMeola? Unfotunately;) a lot of people would say she is. I for one would not!

EMB: the what begat what arguement means that Love and John Cage are better than Pink Floyd, because they exerted influence on PF's sound. But no one would argue that. Radiohead owes nothing to Floyd. Floyd owes nothing to Beethoven or Stravinsky.

BTW: WishYouWereHere vs OK Computer is another popular discussion on the net.

So? I still don't understand comparing 2 different bands, even if one is influenced by another. theres things that some people like and some dont about both bands

@Bodom, I think the title of the thread puts one up against the other but in his begining post he's just wanting to know what we think/opinions.

Yea, I think Radio head covers WishYouWereHere. They also cite Queen, Sonic Youth, the Pixies, Ennio Morricone, Miles Davis, DJ Shadow and Can as influential.

My only point, really, is there is no reason to think that Radiohead would not exist if not for Floyd.

Personally I can't figure out which time period of Pink Floyd people equate with RH. DSotMoon does not remind me of RH at all.
