EDIT: god I'm an idiot, I meant to put this in the instruments and gear category. If someone would be able to move it, that would be awesome >.<

What guitar pedal (single or multi-effect) is your favorite and why? Show us pics of it if you want as well

My favorite is my digitech RP350, mainly because I hate using single-effect pedals. I like being able to make my own custom effects.Plus It has tons of simulated amps and cabinets built into it

I got it on sale for half-off and it came with the giant metal display board, took me forever to get that sucker off lol. Those metal display boards work as excellent pedal boards though.

yuck... multi effects... double yuck...

Mine is my jamman. And if its an acctual effect pedal then its probably my tone pump by barber.

The latest one I got! In this case Hartman LM-308 op/amp distortion. The coolest one I will prolly ever have is my Mutron III, like Jerry Garcia's.

The TC Electronic Nova Drive.
Because it's the best distortion/overdrive pedal I ever used. I can get just about every sound between smooth bluesy overdrive and full gained metal distortion. The circuits are all analogue, but controlled digitally, which allows me to save my favorite sounds. :)

My POD XTlive..

I know Line 6 gets a bad rap but I've had no problems with this one. The shot below is a screen shot while hooked to my PC. You can see, but not clearly..Sorry, all effects and settings used for each patch. AMP-CAB-COMP-GATE-STOMP-MODULATION-DELAY-MIC PLACEMENT-ETC...

I used single pedals before but got tired of tap dancing to make extreme changes in tone. Now it's just one touch to change 4 effects plus amp, cab and such.

I have to agree with EMB, never been much for multi fx. Don't own many pedals, but I've had a Crybaby Wah for years and years and just started to like it.

I'm a tone snob myself but I just don't have the time, room, money, etc. I have a PODXT that I use with a Mac and good studio speakers. I've learned how to dial it in just right with guitar rig and amplitube. More of a matter of convenience than tone.

honestly I prefer to have VST amps/cabs/effects for recording purposes. You can easily get better tone(also re-amping) without having to worry about noise complaints from anyone. For loud jamming and live of course I use my (extremely) simple rig haha I've got a Bad Monkey driving full output(no dist., just clean w/ a hint of extra treble) into my main distortion: Ibanez Tube King TK999HT pedal. Then I have that go through my old Peavey's clean channel. Just brainless but loud, crunchy, sustainy, and brutal :)

My favorite of those two I can't really say since alone, they aren't THAT great, but together they're amazing :D

Better tone then what?

Yeah you wont see anything digital on my board. Complete tone ruiner. I can get a better tone with 2 pedals or 3 pedals and take up less space then a multi effects can. It does less but it sounds much better, and so many people forget how inportant tone is. Should be the easist thing to get but many people dont becvause of these multi effects pedals.

re-read the first line on my post.

Either I use a VST from LePou and some Catharsis cabs and get incredible guitar tone at 3 AM, or I have to worry about mic's and noise complaints, since I'm not the only one that lives in this house :P

Notice I didn't say RP90 or BOSS GT-something in my post ;)

yes multi effects have bad tone but if you cant afford the pedals then multi effects are cheap, and some get the job done just as well as pedals, but then again you are a tone snob so....idk

I'm talking about VST amplifiers and cabinets versus pedals and amps in general. I have only 2 pedals and don't need anymore, but with recording purposes I have many "digital" amps to choose from along with effects.

Multi-FX are good if you're on a budget.

But trust me, once you put all your fx into real stompboxes and pedals, the tone gets SO MUCH BETTER and you get so much more control over the effects themselves. Unless you like/want those massive tone changes with one click.

All I need is a distortion pedal and my RP is going in the trash (not litteraly)

It'll be that when I GET it. And that might be soon, or not so soon, I don't know. Right now though, I have an ISP Decimator to cut feedback at gigs, and a cheap Morley wah that I never use. Usually I just play straight to the amp though. Pedals get on my nerves a good bit, and all my cords died except one, soooo, yeah. :P

My favourite pedal is my Tone Bone Hot British Distortion. Honestly, other than that i just play through my AC AC15. The only reason i ever use that pedal is because the AC15 doesn't tend to have the attack i'm looking for in distortion.

On the discussion of tone, there is nothing that sounds better to me than a lightly overdriven tube amp (without a single pedal, they all kinda ruin that particular vibe for me)...

I really like what can be done with a delay.
