it's definetly acoustic. It's either a parlor guitar or a classical guitar. It has steel strings but the headstock and tunning machines of a classical. The size is parlor though.
Seasick Steve likes the messed up dirty blues sounds of cheap guitars and one string diddly bows. So I would imagine that the acoustic guitar in the picture sounds pretty raspy when he plays it.
The guitar in this video is a junky hardbody stung with 3 strings, the wrong strings in the wrong slots.
I heart his asthetic.
Note: I have a parlor size guitar with a slotted headstock. I used to think it had something to do with originally being a classical or something, but that is just a popular headstock configuration for a 000 size. I have learned.
I stress so much over having all the right gear, getting the right sound, strings, guitar, amp, et., that I almost never just write a song and just play it!
Seasick Steve is a true artist. Just him and his crappy guitar with only 3 strings bangin out some ****eon music. Love it.
The acoustic guitar has a quite nic sound to it, check the link:
I think seasick steve is quite cool, hes got some good tunes. However, he does get a bit repetitive from time to time.īBut i like the idea of less being more. Like some songs (especially Son house) are only clapping and singing, and still so amazing. Its the art of reduction, and I am definitely digging that! :D
Haha, it would e funny if his guitar company would bring out a "seasick signature model" with only 3 strings and the pickups taped onto the guitar like he does ^^
