Im trieing to figure out how to make a melody and a bass line work at the same time. My question to you all is.

What artists or guitar players do this? I need to know whom to look up so i may study them. Thank you.

Eric Johnson uses it in his Cliffs of dover
And Loads of countryplayers use it, like Empirism already said.

The Lemon Song by Led Zeppelin uses hybrid picking, and in Soul Man by the Blues Brothers that intro part is.

is this what your looking for it's not hybrid picking but it is melody and bass. or do you want a more chord melody type stuff?

don't get bog down by his guitar it is basically the same tuning as a regular six sting. I don't know if you know this but each position covers two octaves and a perfect fourth. the problem is the octaves are touching. his set up just puts an octave between the bass and treble strings.

to start of doing things like this is to in every position, starting with the tonics/roots first. hold the bast note down with one finger in the bass resister. then play the corresponding scale without lifting that finger or deadening the sound with the other three in the treble resister. like always every positions and each finger.

oo ok you just threw me off with your op and your post on the classical song.

try Doc Watson he has some stuff you my like, he is more bulegrassy and old timey at lest more then the electric chickening picking you got going on. some jerry reed songs can get going. a lot of the bass lines in this are just alternating roots and fifths

you just change the video on me now I'm really confused

You would love "Ocean" By john Butler. He uses 12 string but can also be done with 6. The intro he plays melody with a bass line.

Most of what I play is hybrid picking, but it's my own stuff... and I dunno if you're into Jazz or not. If you'd like some stuff to work on then I'll tab out some of my stuff for you.

If nullnaught is too busy you could pass some of that my way.
