great musician, but i dont have much respect for him as a person. He held a huge grudge against McCartney for writing Blackbird by himself.

I personally think that John was a little more than 1/4.

lol, they all did their part for the band and The Beatles are one of the greatest out there.

John Lennon made a lot of great songs and should never be forgoten.
But there other great ones to like Bob Marley. :]

The Beatles are the greatest band in history. They have recorded songs in almost every popular genre: rock, blues, country, pop, folk, classical, Indian, psychedelic, Celtic, Ragae, on and on and have hits in many of them. They revolutionized studio recording. The Beatles practically invented the mega concert. They have countless awards from Gramys to Academys.....(I'm gonna stop).

As you can see, I love the Beatles. I just can't think of a greater band!

@ nullnaught

Feedback has been around since the dawn of amplification. To the best of my knowledge, the first guitarist to actually USE feedback as part of his music was Richie Blackmore when, in the early '60's, he was playing in bands like 'The Outlaws' and 'Screaming Lord Such and the Savages'. He called it 'accidental music'.

John Lennon was an extremely influential musician and has put his stamp on music, there is no doubt about that. But he really shouldn't have gone behind the back of McCartney by requesting a producer to do some work on some songs for the album "Let it Be". Lennon sure comes off as quite an egomaniac.

That being said, that version of "The Long and Winding Road" is probably my favorite Beatles song ever, maaaaybe only "In My Life" is better.

Yeah. No doubt Lennon was a cooke and a big part of the reason of their breakup.

I would have to say my favorite Beatle song is "A day in the life". Lennon and McCartney both wrote their own parts of the song.

As I recall, one of the biggest reasons for their demise was the lack of opportunity to play live. Their happiest times together were before they became famous. They could take the stage, play, and actually hear what they were playing!
I honestly believe that the very thing that propelled them to super-stardom (the fans) eventually destroyed them.
