i really don't care about politics. but i love music. in this brilliant world of ours i've seen a ton of great music come out of other countries. most of my favorite bands are from the british isles. is that bad? of course not! but when you live in a country where nickleback and b. spears are popular... you start to lose vision...

so i decided to create this thread for promotion of GOOD, TALENTED acts which originate in the US. this is not an anti- any country thread, but simply a pro- "hey, you might have to dig for it, but good music DOES still exist in the US" thread.

Tough to find good local bands here in Central florida.
Unless you like the whiny pop punk and every song sounds the same Death Metal.

But Papa Roach came earlier this year. Also RATM
As for local bands i honestly cant name any.

Obviously Minus the Bear is amazing. Other bands that rule include Killswitch Engage, The Reign of Kindo, and pretty much everything out of Seattle. Dinosaur Jr is solid as well. Mascis is the man.

oh man, thanks for the GREAT responses. MtB are great, there are some aweseome videos of them out there. and who can't ignore the grunge progression from the NW coast? and obviously anything maynard touches is great.

BUT the reason i'm writing this now is actually a warning --- don't listen to anything i say after 11pm central. HAHAHA, i like (love) to drink, and when i get bored i might, possibly, occasionaly, but normally not but sometimnes definitely, drunkenly direct my browser to this website.

don't get me wrong, i completely agree with everything i said...

but if you see the time/date stamp and it's after midnight... yeah take everything i say with a grain of salt!

awesome!

Lamb of God
Of course the thrash gods (Megadeth, Metallica, yada yada)

Locally, here in Colorado, Havok is a great thrash band. And "The metal band Crow"(Crow has copyright issues) is also great from here.

Oh and uh... Last Word (Shameless self promotion)

Nickelback are Canadian, and they're pretty good man. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they're not good.

Every genre, every song, and every form of music is useful.

There's obviously good music in the U.S. But there's obviously good music in other places, too.

But to be truly honest (and not trying to sound offensive)... the fact that you're basing your music pride ONLY from your homeland is pretty ignorant... there are brilliant and truly amazing artists out there that cross the seas and rise from the desert and even to the small islands around us.

I don't give a crap about who came from where - I just appreciate that this person/people can make excellent music.

But that's just my opinion.

We need to be glad of good music wherever it comes from. If Simon Cowell et.al had their way, we'd only be listening to music that makes money!
