How is it ive never heard of nitro? I believe you can have all the technical skill in the world and still not be able to write a nice melody.

he doesnt have an ounce of emotion in his music.
And yes, I agree, you can have all the technical skill in the world and not be able to write a nice melody. And that has never been more apparent with this guy.

Okay fair enough. I was just curious if it was his actual playing, or if you just didn't care for shredding, or something else.

Why would you hate him? And yes I agree he's very technically skilled.

I personally don't like MAB because (he is probably one of the most technically gifted guitarists in the world) but he doesn't seem to play a melody or have passion in his playing. It is really cool to watch for the "wow" factor, but really isn't fun to listen to...

If this is all he does then I agree with you all. No emotion or feeling to what he plays.

He is one of my biggest influences,he is a shred god,and he can writte awesome music,BUT everyone knows MAB because he can shred like a machine and has this double/quadnguitar ambidexterity shredness stuff,he has created his own music and thats a fact,no one sounds like him, its like buckethead wit his..bucket..MAB has tons of feeling,he just expresses it in a different way

I am yet to see a MAB video where he has more feeling than the Jonas Brothers. but thats my opinion

I take back what I said about him not having passion or emotion in his playing...

Watch Speed Lives...I actually can kind of feel his passion for playing...which for me is a first in his videos I've seen

fight fight FIGHT FIGHT!!!!!

i will say this --- in the year 2006 it was obvious that people were creating "youtube" style videos which were obviously doctored in some way. in the year 2010 i am a cynical, skeptical SOB.

i actually watched most of that video. i realize that this video is probably a little old (10+ years?), but that part when he swaps from "underhand" to "overhand" of the neck?

maybe i'm just being skeptical, but no effing way. has to be sped up. my bull shiz detector is screaming when i saw that.

as much as I would love to agree with you in calling BS on MAB, he has pulled this trick in a ton of other vids of him playing.

Though he may actually be wearing a toupee xD ahahaha

Will MAB ever write anything as popular as an Ozzy or zeppelin tune? I think not.

The problem with guitar music(like Vai, Satch, MAB, etc.) is that they won't ever be as popular as the Ozzy's or Zep's because you have to be into guitar to be able to appreciate it. There are always exceptions to the rule, but more people will know who Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath are than Rusty Cooley or Paul Gilbert.

BUT It doesn't mean that someone could get a huge hit with an instrumental song (Kenny G did it in 1980s).

But I do like MAB, I think he seems like a pretty genuine guy that would be cool to even just hang out with.

Let's just calm down about this whole thing...

If politics has taught me anything about people, it's that when one side disagrees with the other, there is no backing down for either side...

Let's just not argue about this please guys?

Does anybody out there like the singers voice in this. I personally think MAB should find a new singer. That's my opinion.

Completely disagree here. I first got into Vai when Fire Garden came out and I played drums, I didn't care at all about playing or learning the guitar at that point in my life, drums were too much fun! So you definitely don't have to be into guitar to enjoy instrumentals, you just have to be into MUSIC.

i prefer the Thor Van Clemson Advanced Fast Hand Finger Wizard Master Class.

this is brendan small, mastermind behind "home movies" and "matalocalypse"

p.s. that original video of this post is definitely fake. 2:45 seriously watch his hair. he's a fake, whoever he is. "nitro"? lame.
