Hi everyone, Id like to ask about modes of scales. Can you use Ionian,Doran,Phrygian,Lydian,Mixolydian,Aeolian,Locrian modes on other scales like pentatonic or blues, etc..? I have a hint that it is only for the major scale and any other scale composed of seven note intervals. Though i might be wrong, so if anyone kindly have an idea of this i would be very glad to hear it. THanks.

you're asking like something like a G Dorian Pentatonic exists?
I don't think so...

it kinda exists. the C major pentatonic is the same as the A minor pentatonic, except that it starts on the 2nd note of the scale. so it's still the same sort of idea.

i know modes work with the major and minor scales. i dont think there are any other 7 note scales, apart from exotic ones, and they are probably just modes of the harmonic minor etc

You can also get modes from the melodic minor scale. But like mightydave, can't be bothered to search right now...
