Hey again everyone, this is maybe a question that is unanswerable but i thought i would just give it a shot. My question is "How Do You Know When A Song is Good?" or even known as a Great song.

thats your opinion, you can think a song is good and not other people, if youre talking about your own compositions then i would ask other people to listen to it. i think id ask people who like a similar style of music, i wouldnt ask someone who likes death metal to listen to my pshcadelic funkyass stuff (although we have a friend who likes that metal and also digs our stuff, but thats besides the point)

you know its a good song when its stuck in your head, not always though. if its stuck in your head and you dont like it there has to be something about it you like though

Now, this is a bit tricky question isnt it? :). "how do you know when.." well, you know it when you love the song, simple.

But then, if you mean "how do you know when.." is based on facts that makes musically constructed piece to be "good" or "great", we are goin to area where comes opinion vs theoretical fact deathmatch.

There we need so many definitions for what are the entries to that song fit to category "good" and when to category "great",in there, it needs more than my knowledge to answer that :)

Edit: One thing comes to mind about difference good and great song... Finnish band Hanoi Rock's guitarist said on one interview that "that song, became greater than the band"

If you think about it, great songs do not born.. they "become" great songs.

eh... just my 2 cents :P

Empirism... I Mean Wow! That answer was absolutely fantastic but i guess the answer i was looking for was the "it's your own opinion" that you and EMB implied. although EMB was more clear about it haha! But i totally agree with you guyz, when you love the song it has to be a good song right? And On a further note i actually was referring to my own composition, and my apologies for not having it in my question lol. i guess the only way to find out if my song is good or not is to let other people hear it. Thanks again guyz

And by the way: My song is not yet finished
And by the way # 2: It will be the first real song i will have ever wrote
