Hey guys ;) I got a laptop and Guitar Rig 4 as a grad gift and I am losing sleep over it. Amazing software(I KNOW IT SOUNDS DIGITAL) so crazy with the different settings and such... anybody else use it at one point? or own it? variation? am I going to "disappear" for liking it?

Haha, well done Case. I also use Guitar Rig 4 with the Session I/O. Need help with it? The clean tones are pretty rad, but the distorted tones just don't really sound that great to me; but then again, mainstream software isn't so great for metal heads. I also have Guitar Rig 3. If it works for me out here in the desert, I'm sure it'll work for you!

Rock on!

I downloaded it but then somebody told me that I needed an extra piece of hardware, an external sound card or something like that so no, I haven't used it.

@mici I ran my guitar through my pedals(off of course) and since the Big Muff isn't a true bypass it picks up the signal strength and thus allows me to not have to spend more money on a DI box(which is probably what your friend was talking about).

@GS
haha yeah, I do like some of the distorted tones, but it doesn't do the super heavy stuff that well, but since I'm not into the huge amounts of gain I don't usually venture that far into it. It does get some pretty convincing 80's hard rock/metal tones though. Love using the Van Halen and Randy Rhoads settings(and then there's one for AC/DC and Zakk Wylde).

I use Guitar Rig 4 on my Mac. I go from a POD XT to my mac via usb and use garage band. From garage band I use GR4 as a plug-in and it sounds amazing.

Don't let anyone tell you what you should like. If you like the way it sounds that's all that matters. Also, you may want to think about what your expectations are for tone originating out of a computer. It's gonna sound digital but so what. Does it sound good?

oh yeah, I really do love the sounds I can squeeze out of it. It's very flexible and I can work with a lot of different amps, boxes, eq's, etc. It's too much fun haha I've been staying up an extra 2 hours each night just playing around with it XD lol

I really like that one can manipulate every aspect of every device, digital or not, inside the software.
