Quick help please!

Why does all the positions of the major scale change when I go from G to A ????

bc the g string is fked up ;) its werid normally the 5th fret would equal the open of the next string. but its the 4th on thh g

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but I'll stab at an answer anyway. If you mean, G major to A major, the positions change because you are in a new key. The patterns for each scale/mode remain the same but G Ionian and A Ionian are at different finger positions. Generally G starts at the 3rd finger position while A is at the 5th. So to go from G to A, just shift everything up a whole step.

o i thought he meant the difference between the g string from the rest... the diff from the scales is obvious... since it starts on a different note it cant be in the same place...

^its the B string thats fudged, not the G string

Im still confused, somebody told me this on a youtube comment

"each pattern is based on the key of E Major, even they don't all start on E. It is an easy way to utilize the whole finger board. Hope this helps."

How do i know which pattern to use with what key?

I just figured it all out!! finaly I understand scales :D

Well maybe just the basic like .000001% of it but atleast I understand how it works a little bit!! ^_^

Unless you misunderstood that person, and they really meant, every pattern in the key of E major is based off the same notes...which would still be a crappy way to explain it...you should not take advice from them anymore.

Lol as im reading back to my first post on this topic I see its a very stupid question and have learned alot since this morning :)
