My A string just snapped on me (on a whammy pull? I expected the high e before the A!!), and i dont have a replacement .52 string. Im thinking of going back to .09s so i can dive bomb with more ease. (Get rid of the two highly unstable springs that are in the screw holes)

Suggestions on strings?

Ernie Ball .10-.46 Stay in tune forever, and tone never goes away. Whatever you do, don't use D' Addarios. I used them for a week and had to put the EB's back on because the tone just went that quick. Just my opinion though dude. They may work great for others, just not me.

I don't like D'Addarios either man. My V had them for a while and bluhhhhh... They were crisp, but did not sound very lively(they came with the guitar). The Ernie Ball lines are good though ;)

I had Ernie ball Heavy bottom-skinny top. A was .052, low E was .062
They were just too thick and Sounded better for Metal. Im Looking for .009s that have a nice bright tone, but wont snap first time i grab the whammy bar.

9s won't snap... that's just myth honestly, I have broken a string when my guitar is set up properly(and I've gone back and forth from 9s and 10s for a few years) in probably a good 10 string changes. The only time that it snapped was at the bridge on my FR equipped guitar because it had developed quite an edge to the saddle.

Ok i have 4 guitars that i want to restring and i want kinda specific sounds for each:

1. very old Italian classical- light gauge with a soft yet bright sound

2. Aria STG fender strat rip off- usually use pink super slinkys but needs something more suited to a jazzy sound

3. round back ovation style steel string - again usually have superslinkys on there but i want something with a softer sound

4. cheap steel string - use it for slapping and popping needs chunky strings with a lot of boom to them

advice please
