well, messing today a little with licks section, I found it a bit messy. It could be cool, if there could be a sections to licks. sorted by key forexample.

Phip and I spoke of this earlier in the week and I think i can speak for the both of us when i say ...
"i could not agree more"

i'd take that a step further and EDIT the entire Licks-Lessons-etc section as many 'lessons' are overlapping, repetitive, incorrect, etc.

but that would be one hellOfva BIG task not just for a web-idiot such as myself, but anyone. A.K.A: there is a lotta lotta stuff to cover.

Aye, actually its very easy task technically. Bigger task is to organize those lessons and licks, where solid theoretical knowledge is needed.

Cheers!

Ohhhh (interesting) okay.

well, i will offer MY 'solid' knowledge of theory to aide in this endeavor (a few hours a day or so), if its within my meager web-skills, to participate.
IE: if i am presented with the task of sorting out ill-theory, redundant-lessons and/or licks and such i can do so BUT it would have to be in a way that did not require website knowledge or web-programming as i am an idiot in that capacity

but if we can do this (or are allowed to , lol) we'll have to caveman-down my web-level(at least i will) ;~)

anyway... if there be a need for this, i am quite willing to lend a hand.
whatever the outcome, Empirism, its a damned good idea! Cheers!

I'd be down to help out. I have a pretty decent knowledge of html and other basic syntax for web design and programming. First thing I would do is remove licks from the lick section that aren't tabbed out correctly, that shouldn't be too difficult. As for the lessons and such... There are just way too many. In my honest opinion, I think lessons and such should be left up to the admins... Even though that would keep myself, carl and the several other members with good theoretical knowledge from posting lessons- the plus side is that it would keep the section tidy. Either that, or more strict approval. There are so many lessons, that are just ugly to look at; those can go. I don't think anyone would miss them.
Just my thoughts.

Like I said though, I'd be glad to help out. Would give me something to take my mind off of where I am at.

Rock on!

p.s. - Carl, if you see things that are wrong, you should definitely correct them. I don't think anyones feelings would get hurt hehe.

I'm pretty much the only one doing this, I'm sorry that it's not amazing right now but I am letting you guys know that I am doing something about this. You guys don't know how many licks and lessons I have already deleted!

EDIT:

The only html we use is the basic AGC stuff to tab and make things bold. If you guys wanna tell me what ones you don't like - through msn or something, then yeah, I'll do what I can.

BUT

You guys have to understand that not everyone is at our level... and some people understand some things from one person's lessons when there are possibly two more who have written similar lessons - they just don't click for that student. (If that made sense).

(I need to get this off my chest--then back to logical discourse)

JazzMaverick says:

I’m a bit like my Toast this morning; burnt around the edges, but a little tender in the middle, so forgive me if this comes out sounding ‘mean’, as that is not my intent.

Jazzy; perhaps it’s a British / (Southeastern)-U.S. linguistic-misinterpretation but I take offense at this comment (if, indeed this is what you meant) : “You guys have to understand that not everyone is at our level”-Jazzy
Our level” !? …. eh?
Perhaps it’s a point of pride that we (talking about my wife and friends and I) Southerners take too hard to heart, but I ran that comment BY Cin (my wife who is a professional Hairdresser of 36 years) and she said she would feel the same way were this aired in her field.

I have worked and sweated and slaved for well over 30+ years as a musician. I take a LOT of pride in that and the fact that I am still alive and working as a professional musician.
In another few decades, should you continue to pursue music as your passion and profession, you can say we are on the same level … until then – no, we are not on the same ‘level’ and to say so is presumptuous at best.
I’m not trying, as I said, to be (or sound) ‘mean’ but that comment felt arrogant and insulting to me, as a “Lifer”.

Again; that may not have been your intent, and if so (you know me) you have my apologies.

------------
Now BACK to the idea at hand:

I do thank you for your efforts, Jazzy, I was unaware you had taken the task … KUDOs.

In my opinion their should be a more stable and congruent flow of information available to the beginner (anyone with less than 5 years or so of playing time = MY definition of ‘beginner’) but it sounds like you are already ON this, (again Kudos) and so I’ll move to the 10-year(to ME = intermediate) intermediate and more advanced players.

This is where, IMO, the ‘belt should be tightened’ most, as I see many conflicting and/or potentially confusing lessons. I think that a bit of simple ‘pruning’ would go a loooong way in that area. IE: No big-huge-drastic overhauling, simply some reorganization and editing(by edit I mean trash, lol) of what already exists there.
As for the more ‘theory-heavy’ (or ‘heavy theory’) lessons, the “pruning” actually gets easier (the way I see it anyway) as there are many ‘absolutes’ inherent in deep-theory-laden lessons.

Of the three I could best help with the later, should anyone wish me to, while leaving the former to someone (or a few someone’s) else, as I don’t have as much time between lessons and sessions(etc) as I did this winter.

"You guys have to understand that not everyone is..."

Krhmrhmrhm... now I feel special XD...but sadly I think our level dont mean same level... goddamit, I go back to the training...

Uh...If you Carl consider yourself as intermediate, who teh hell can do lessons to more advanced players? :P...

aaand, Lesson section needs more work than lick section, so I think it can take time...

What I suggest that some of you who knows the theory Well enough check out the licks and write down the key...and level if you wish then you have key and lvl sections. though even mode hints can be good...

I dont know if you moderators can manage this website to add sections, but then you can atleast send those section requests to Admin and I think he do the thing in half an hour... if even that long.

Cheers!

you completely misread that.
an intermediate player(to me) means:
"less than 10 years playing"
thats certainly not me (34 years making money playing the guitar)

So, if yer NOT trying to be a smart-a$s something is being lost in translation.
read the post again, Emp.
it says :
carlsnow says:
10-year(to ME = intermediate)

i wasn't being snarky and do not appreciate snark being thrown my way, i was only trying to help for chissake.

so anyway yes... (if it was intentional) i take offense to that BS, and rightfully so.

perhaps i'm a tad tender from burying two great long-time guitar playing friends of mine last week & weekend ...both , like me, with well over 30 years of playing under their belts; so i was a bit miffed to basically be called an a amateur. With some 'heavy' folks flying in from LA, New York, Nashville and the U.K. to mourn with us. (great players who's names i'll not drop here, but am certain you've heard.) it put many things in perspective for me and both made me proud and grateful to have survived the rock 'n' roll death-ride this long, while also reminding me that being blessed in that way leaves one in the moral position of WANTING TO GIVE SOMETHING BACK
but its BS like this that makes me wanna (on-line)say f--k it.

( sheesh ! )

Oh! haha, again my poor english caused some misunderstanding... you know m8, not need to taken offence (mmm, there are quite few fellas or friends here who seen me throwing offences to anyone...)

You are Carl, in my rating at the top what comes to word "respect". So Im very sorry that once again I caused ill feeling with my poor understanding.

I leave it to your decicion to judge or forgive me, but no matter what the result is, it dont reduce my respect to you.

What is my forever problem, is that I put my nose there where it dont belong, I just tried to lighten a things a bit. As always.

What jazzy meant was:

"At our level" she meant more advanced players, with more knowledge than begginers, not British or Southenders arguments.

And,I think bringing the fact of "30+ Years making a living out of music" into a language or reading mistake/misunderstanding issue, wich are very common in forums and internet talking, is way more arrogant and more smartass than taking things more down to earth.

I assume you already know some of the guys and girls here, like jazz or emp, and I'm sure you know there is no intention of offence or any bad ways involved in here.

I can just say, stay cool.

Whoa Carl, calm down man. I honestly meant no offence and what Alex said was right. Carl you should know by now I'm not the type of person to intentionally insult you.

Not many members are ready to take on your theory, and if some struggle to understand mine they definitely won't be able to understand yours because you're so advanced. THAT was my point.

I'd appreciate it if you didn't snap at someone else for defending me- that wasn't necessary.
