previous guitars:
squier affinity stratocaster HSS
ibanez artcore AS73

new toy!

fender MIM stratocaster. honestly i knew that the squier was a "starter" guitar, but i figured that it would be very similar to a "fender" guitar. WOW. i am blown away by how awesome this guitar is. the sound and the playability (i just made up a word) are amazing. i love it. plus the fit and finish on the metal parts is much cleaner than on my indonesian made squier.

p.s. my secondary hobby is guitar. but my original hobby has always been photography. that's why i feel obligated to say that i apologize for these pics, it looks like they are forced-resized to the web image which deteriorates from the picture. this is all anal retentive stuff that i care about but nobody else does.

that being said, i found some pics of my last purchase which combine both of my hobbies. just showing off!

no.

and thanks. being single and having no kids means i have too much money to throw away on toys. right now my main goal in learning guitar is to get good enough to justify th emoney i spend on toys. HAHAHAHA!

Very neat! Both of them. The color of the Ibanez... God, that is beautiful.

yeah man, what's funny is that i was looking at new AS73s on GC's website and thinking about picking up one in sunburst... it's just my "go-to" body color. but i found this one used on craigslist at a steal so i picked it up even though it wasn't my preferred color. but i'm glad though, that transparent red really looks good, and i was surprised at the quality of the bound/set neck and the white accents are great, too. definitely a great guitar. so much fun to play. when i first showed it to my brother he acted like he didn't "get" the semi-hollow body construction, but then we were playing it un amplified (over the holidays at my folks' house) and he totally warmed up to it.

plus the last thing i need is an arsenal of guitars, all of them in brown sunburst...

i am sort of a craigslist junkie, though that artcore and the strat i got for a steal from people who just needed to get rid of them, and i'm glad to provide them with a good home!

so i've been playing the strat since i got it (yesterday afternoon), and earlier today sublime's "same in the end" came on my playlist. i love that song, and it's got a great distorted fast punk progression as the chorus. i learned how to play it, and i compared the artcore to the strat. i tell you what, that artcore isn't going to see any loss in playing time, because those HH pickups are awesome for the distortion stuff...

man i love guitars. ahhh!!! (if you think this is bad, you should see my photography toys...)
