Hi all,
My mate has a guitar made by a company called 'Blade' which is based on the Fender 'Fat Strat' series. The lucky bastard got it signed at a Satriani concert recently, and obviously wants to make sure that the signature stays there. The best idea we've had so far is to contact Blade and find out the orignal lacquers/topcoats used on the body and to try and spray these over the top. Does anyone have a better way of doing it, or for extra bonus points does anyone know of a place in the UK where the signature encapsulating could be done for us?
Thanks,
The Rave-On

i think this will not be very known , but i'll bump this one!
to make sure someone with knowledge sees this.

or just cut out the signed part out of the guitar , put a nice framework around it and hung it on the wall ! (or would he still like to use the guitar?)

well nvm

the only way to protect it properly,is as you say is to clearcoat over the top, iwould go for a 2pac clear with minimul reducer, which is less aggressive than laquer clearcoats.the only problem i can see is a reaction with the actual signature but a clear plastic film could be applied over signature first and then clearcoated.another option is to just go for the plastic film,if applied properly cheaper way to go and effective.get somebody who knows how to apply this stuff properly it looks good,if not it,ll look like shit,no air bubbles.hopefully helped.
