overdrive tries to help push a tube amp into overdrive(or some are used to emulate a tube amp going into overdrive).
A "metal" distortion pedal is loads of gain, and it doesn't try to emulate a tube amp very much, it's more of a silicon diode(if that's even the right term) making a more "mechanical" distortion.

hope those make sense

but both can be used to get a sound that you want, it just takes trial and error

i'd say for what your playing, go with the metal pedal(that rhymed). but if you wanted some cool sounds i'd say get both and plug them in together

I just ran through it(with a g string that was out of tune, and then a little after a b string that was out of tune lol) almost forgot how much fun it is to just get down with it during the solos and wail! lol

ah good times, maybe in the next couple of days, seeing as how it's snowing and really cold outside, I'll get to another vid.

And kudos for stepping up to the challenge of a Randy Rhoads song man, took me about 8 months after hearing Mr. Crowley the first time to work up the nerve to start learning it lol

yeah, don't worry man, after a while it'll all just be 2nd nature. You'll know where to go without thinking about it.
