i picked fender although technically it's a "squier"

saw a pretty sweet looking ibanez artcore at GC the other day. man i wish i was at least competant at guitar so i could justify buying new toys....

gx, i know that feeling... its bad. i remember buying a sweet looking epiphone lespaul special back when i didnt know much about guitar and the clerk scammed me out of $200(yes it was cheap) and the guitar was TERRIBLE. i hate going to music stores because 1. im not a very confident person 2. im VERY shy in person. 3. i forget almost everything when i go to a music store 4. i cant keep my cool. its just a nightmare for me. wow i went way off topic lol

I look for 'bang for my buck' now so Gibson's and Fender's don't do it for me anymore.
maybe an Ibanez if there's a next time.

HAHAHAH, you sound like me. guitar center is so intimidating because i went in there and at the guitar booth there were literally 6 employees sitting around, and one of them was rocking out on this acoustic guitar, and i walk in there to pick up an xmas present for my dad (apparently he is really jealous of my squier) and immediately it's like i'm under a spotlight!

plus right now all i can play are scales and a handful of songs. when i took my squier in to have him look at the action he amost ripped it apart playing it (metaphorically) and says "man, i wouldn't change a thing about the way this plays. here you can try it out" and hands it to me. HAHAHA, tough act to follow! i told him i'd take his word for it.

but i am single with no kids and am gainfully employed. i can easily just spend some cash on a sweet guitar, the problem is that i can't justify it until i'm at least competant!

Schecter ftw. still after hours and hours of looking at random guitars on the internet, its still probably the nicest looking one of them all. if i got a custom guitar itd pretty much be the same

I have a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser FR and a Schecter Synyster Custom as well as a Peavey acoustic =)Schecters play like a dream and sound amazing. Great for any style of music.

is it just me or does anyone else notice that almost everyone in guitar center is playing a Schecter guitar?

I've noticed. I just like to laugh at all the wannabe Vai kids and the "br00tullll" dudes. I absolutely hate Ibanez though. No offense to anyone. It's just seems like a trend. Like Jacksons were in the 80's per say.

thats what i noticed about it, you can play anything on it.
I think that Vengeance probably made them a lot more popular.

Just cliche', and in my opinion, very overrated.

ahahaha hey we are all allowed to hate a brand. i absolutely hate everything made by: apple computers, ford motor company, and any digital SLR camera made by sony

personally i don't think i'd ever get a solid body ibanez, but i am really attracted to their artcore series semi- and hollow body models. i don't know enough about guitar to have a brand that i hate, but i don't really see any gibson/epiphone guitars i'd ever want to buy. MAYBE an epiphone dot series...
