I beleive that you are sir... because I think that I'm qualified for a good band and you kind of blow me out of the water as far as on paper. Haven't seen you play, but if all you say is true, then I would say that you should have no trouble auditioning for a band.

Cobain only knew power chords and even he was good enough.

What I would ask myself is, "Do I know about the genre I want to play?"

I dont know any theory or chord names and ive just dived into playing solo gigs, and I think I can easy play rhythm and percussion for a band(not that i want to). . . thats only 3 years under my belt. Be confident in yourself man, dont ask questions just do it :) thats my ten cents. Goodluck

I just know some simple chords (E, C, C5, A5, you know the rest...) and Powerchords.
And It sounds great.

But to be a good lead, youve gotta know how to navigate those tiny frets/strings.

But id say youre qualified for a good band. Since you say you can do all that.
Plus you gotta know the genre. You cant start a metal band and start playing country...

What is a definition of a good band? Famous band?, band of friends?, Technically superior band?, soulful band? Good improvisation band? Well... Yes, no, maybe...

How about James Hetfield? :P

had to pop in and remind:

G5 , A5 etc are NOT chords, they are intervals, 5th's to be precise. and if you add a third finger--still no luck as you'd be playing 1-5-1 (note - 5 - octave).
to make a "power" chord, voice the entire chord (hold all 6 even if you play 4) by adding either a minor-3rd or a major-3rd

(sorry , put i keep seeing these intervals shown as chords, and as a teacher , it's been driving me nuts, lol)

nonetheless...

RAWK!

Well, im a big James Hetfield fan... I think he is one of the most badazz singer in metal scene... but as like regarding this site

http://www.musicmight.com/artist/united+states/california/los+angeles/metallica

"James Hetfield's passion for Country & Western reared itself again when it was revealed the METALLICA frontman had laid down guitar tracks on a remix of Country singer CAROLYN DAWN JOHNSON's single 'So Complicated'. It later emerged that Hetfield had also completed an entirely solo rendition of WAYLON JENNINGS 'Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit's Done Got Out Of Hand' for a 2003 tribute album. The METALLICA frontman not only sang on this track but also performed guitar, bass and drums."

And I barely remember that James did few unofficial "quest artist" shows in country clubs in his free time, but I maybe remember wrong.
