It's hard to say whether people here would steal your stuff or not, I can't vouch for anyone other than myself...I certainly hope no one would though, we are all fellow musicians and know how important our music is to us. But if you are realy paranoid about it...just copyright your stuff...Jazz actaully made a lesson about copyrighting your music should the need arise... Copyrighting Music

If anyone actually does steal it write a real"** you" type song and tell them to steal that one too.

They'd look pretty damn stupid singing a song that is insult-driven about themselves. If that makes sense. idk.

Thanks GS, I was about to post that.

Acidcrash, we all take a risk when it comes to posting our songs since those who aren't even members can view these topics. But if your songs are complete then I'd definitely reccommend that you copyright them. If they're just rough ideas I'd still post them since we can give you advice on your weak points and compliment your strong points.

Two route will insure you are okay and can post anything.

Join(if you have not already) ASCAP or BMI ... these are the to most used 'Publishers' simply send THEM the song 1st then post away, easy as 1, 2, 3 !

copyrighting is not a very good defense but doesn't hurt.

(the laws via Copyright have been mangled through the years, copyright wise, i could change a line or to or one chord in one verse and , if the tune is not published and protected by BMI or ASCAP , anybody can 'steal' your tune. (i wouldn't worry about it anyway as its incredibly rare)
BUT if yer still worried, ...ASCAP / BMI (hey! they write nice che3cks as well!)

RAWK!

nice advice Carl, i just joined BMI

So I've always wanted to get input from my tunes i figured screw this copyright junk and posted it. I'm on the other side cuz I'm not looking to be some rock star, or anything like that so if someone stole my song i would be giddy. I'd just be thrilled that someone thought my song was good enough to learn and play. My plan was then to contact them and ask for money...

I mean look what good is the "best song in the world" if it's not shared and no one hears it.

Yeah I've worried about that too. It's also a reason why I've kept quite a few of my songs hidden away, particualrly those I've figured out what I think are good tabs for them. I know what you mean, I trust every single member here, but I just worry about lurkers.

But, now we don't have to worry anymore anyway! That code was a great
idea.

would it be possible to have a section that only members can view where we can post our lyrics and stuff?
