Hey guys, bit of an old thing I was trying to do want to have another crack at it.

I've got a replacement pickup for my les paul just a cheap off the shelf nothing special, but I can't get the old one off of it's tone pot because the wire is stuck to it with a big blog of what looks like glue/resin and solder...

Any ideas how to get it off?

You could just snip the very end of the wire. Once it is disconnected from the source, the piece you left attached to pot will just be an added recepticle no big deal.

No problem dude. It's not the greatest solution but it will work.
