Hanx Nutter!!
(i was gonna Karma-tize ya anyways 'cause you've always been a nice Nutter to this Cranky olde Frac ... now i dunno HOW , lol, I'll try man, I'll try)
and i agree
and yes .. back to the topic
(the damn topic i ungratefully posed a tab and link to fer gods sake)

topic = hows yer playing ;
i should'ah said 'damn-good!' instead of 'great', as someone, some evil someone who shall remain (Alfred Fossil) nameless and vocation-less (my manager) booked me somewhere twice in he same week .. offered to pay union scale+ *ergh!* ..before he/i remembered i had 3 or 4 young/young kids to teach.... damn you ethics! LOL ..give a man a break.
break ... don't pit values against money ...*argh!*
(and YES .....I opted for teaching the kids .. am i a sucker or what!? lol)
got to teach that new Gilbert & Nelson tune 'The Last Rock 'n' Roll Star' to a star pupil ... fun.

and seriously.

I've heard some braggin' here (Not you Nutter)'bout skills and shredding and assorted 'i'm crazy-good' kinda stuff

so kids; time to quit talkin' and start chalkin' ... lets HEAR the 'greatness'

*tick tick tick*

(all in good fun .. dont take the old crazy mofo TOO seriously)

Cheers Carl =] Yeah noticed the tab didn't really get it though (too many posts to read) may try it out.

May all get to hear me around Jan. next year, been asked to play on my mates EP as a guest guitarist on atleast 3 songs, two originals and a cover of time. Dunno why but he seems to think I'm an epic player...I'm crapping myself cause of how bad I think I am really haha xD

I just realised how bad my spelling has gotten recently, sorry everybody.

I'm alright with my playing. Actually, ALMOST alright 'cause I could have been better, but at least I don't suck the way I used to. Getting to an electric for the Spanish guitar shirley boosted my skills up. Sometimes I'm kinda jealous (in a good way of it) about my best friend who started playing a long time after I did and he Rocks Gary Moore and George Benson solos while I'm still keeping rythm for him, though. I don't think that's a very thing, anyway, cause I've still got plenty of time and I'm not into shreddin or speed and I can play some (not very) slow solos.

Hmm. This is tough. Godly or sucky? I depends if im playing Lead, or Rhythm. And if i sing lead or backup.

I Put godly, because i usually play rhythm, and dont usually sing or i sing backup.

My lead is sucky because my right hand is clumsy. (only in solos)
My Rhythm is perfect though. No flaws, perfect chord switching.

I would say good at rhythm and poor at lead, but I've only been trying lead for a few months and i've played rhythm for 10 stinkin years.

lol. I imagine Napolean Dynamite saying your entire post.

"yeah. I'm pretty much the best I know of". I'm not trying to offend you. it just reminded me of it. Perfect rhythm, wow. I need to hear what that sounds like. do you have any clips?

Sorry. I dont have a camera or anything to record. Closest is my phone, but a simple chord sounds horrible on it. Ill meet up with my other guitarist. See if he can record. maybe do a duel. Ive been working on my soloing.

And i didnt say that! ("im pretty much the best i know of") Thats what i say about Carl Snow!
But, yea, hopefully my distortion pedal comes soon! Then i will say that!

whaaa!?

rhythm is heartbeat of music, you NEVER stop learning it.
I still practice 'rhythm playing' and i'm a teacher with 34 years playing under my belt.
there is an old saying that should be remembered:
"remain teachable"

my friends say im pretty good and it helps when ur not a douche like most of the local guitarist around my area. i been playing 3-4 months and i think im "great" but i can get a lil over confident sometimes but thats not a bad thing in this situation ay? i can play 200bpm and i knowa bunch of scales...my goal is to just play hourSSSS a day

@Carlsnow. what i mean by that is that if you give me a chord chart i don't have too practice it. and i totally agree with you about being teachable. it's just that for what i am doing right now i am pretty much comfortable with my playing

i look down on myself because im not as good as the big greats, then i remember im only 16 and have only been playing a few years, im not a 40 year virtuoso who was a child prodigy, that makes me feel better about my playing

I never understood the rhythm/lead thing. Lots of "lead" guitarists play "rhythm". Keith Richards being first that comes to mind. That being said I'm better at playing chords than I am at soloing.

yup! the "lead or rhythm-guitar" is incredibly silly and was probubly stated by someone who felt they should have some 'cool new title' added beside "Guitar" to distinguish himself from "that other guy in he band who does doe as many acrobatics. it's silly as hell.
the punchline is: nowadays its harder to find anyone who knows more than 4 chords, but you have to swat the "shredders" (above chords, lol) away like gnats!

for ****s and giggles here is him playing Fats Waller's(my favorite piano player behind Monk) "Ain't misbehaving"

>------http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ciyjQVydLc------<

In my opinion Art is the only musician who i think can be called the best at there selected instrument.

@RA - I really don't consider that shredding... but it sounds like 20000x better than any shredder out there. It's nice :)

I'll give that piano a listen when I get back from class... I know there are many pianists that play extremely fast... just that kind of music usually doesn't entice me.

Just to clarify...
My above posts were joking. I'm not a stuck up snob like that.
Honestly I see myself as "I suck" and I always work on improvement. Every time I grab my guitar, whenever I go to band practice, it's about working out as many flaws in my/our playing as possible.
When I work with other musicians I would put say I'm Good. Having other musicians play along for some reason makes anything I play sound infinately better.

Plus Im in a new band with no rhythm guitar, it's alot easier to me.
Just guitar and bass is enough for me.

Noone is ever perfect, noone will ever attain "godly" status, and if they honestly think they are I will slap them.

I think everyone on this forum is modest about their playing. I would say I'm pretty good considering that I have only been playing for about 2.5 years. I could improve my improvising and break free from the same-old pentatonic stuff, but I'm better at sitting down and writing out a solo.
I said "good" because that's what everyone tells me and I won best instrumentalist at a battle of the bands.
