Modes

Hi again, I have a new question. I have written a solo recently and it uses A Major and another scale. The problem is that I don't know if I am even using a 'real' mode or scale, its A something.
I use 1,2,b3,b4,5,b6,b7 for the unknown mode.
any help would be fantastic,

Could you tab it out? Kinda hard to tell from the info you gave above.

The scale you describe is slightly unusual, because it contains both a major 3rd (b4) and minor 3rd (b3), therefore it has a mixed tonality. As far as I'm aware there is no name for this scale, because scales generally speaking should be either major or minor, not both. I'm sure it will have been discovered before, but I doubt there are many people that use it!

@les_paul: how much more info do you need? You understand scale interval sequences right?

thanks afro, I wasn't exactly sure if it was anything to begin with, sounds pretty good feeding into the major though.

it gives a different feel with the major scale transition, sounds more classical.

That's cool! There's an arabian scale that almost the same 1 b2 b3 b4 5 b6 b7. Basically you can create whatever mode you like, there's no real modes, only common ones.

looks like a slightly shifted Locrian(Dominant)add5 .. or a similar hybrid.
