Electro-acoustic guitars

Hello, another novice question from me. :)

I'm thinking of investing in a Fender electro-acoustic guitar, and I need to buy an amplifier seperately, will any amplifier of any brand work, or are only some compatible with an electro-acoustic guitar?

In principle it doesn't matter what kind of amplifier you have, anything goes, although there are lots of differences between amplifiers. If you'd like, I could ask a friend of mine to recommend something, What exact type of Fender do you have and what kind of music would you like to play....
