okay so i was looking in a local pawn shop, and i was just playing the guitars, one of them was a Samick and it played quite nice, and it had a floyd rose on it, ive been lookin for a cheap (as in inexpensive, not as in crap) guitar to learn how to do divebombs or swinging the guitar around or w/e. just to learn how to do crap like that so i can find out if its worth getting a nice guitar with a Floyd just to do whammy tricks and find out i fail epically... so in short, are Samicks generally good guitars for $200?

i think this is the one i found, only it was black

i wouldnt waste your money on something that expensive to swing around i think you can get something cheaper for that purpose cuz $200's a lot.

im thinking about getting it more for the floyd rose than swinging it around, also so i might not get as many strange looks in church =p

Hey BBT,
I have a Samick acoustic that i bought when i first decided to learn.
It is probably the bottom of their line and I must say it has a nice tone to it and plays nice. it hasn't warped or given me a bit of trouble since i bought it. you can back the family car over it and it doesn't seem to mind. I think I paid only 100 bucks for it and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Samick if something happened to this one. I have a very fussy expensive Martin acoustic that has already had humidity problems and half the time i'm afraid to take it out of it's case. Sure, it's a fine instrument and sounds great but you have to sit up nights worrying about the damn thing. I own it, i love it, but to tell you the truth I'll never buy another guitar quite so delicate again! Give me a guitar i can throw in the back of the car and take with me no matter what the weather and i'll be much happier. The Samick is that kind of guitar.

Samick has a reputation for making pretty good guitars for cheap. Also, I always say if you like it and you can afford it buy it.

Does the guy selling it really know his way around guitars? If hes clueless then go play it again, pretend to tune the high e string then pop it. Then tell him that the action or intonation is wacked and get it cheaper.

I buy all my equitment at the pawn shop two blocks down the street. I make sure it plays and that it's not broken. Of course it always has a few scratches and dents but really who cares?
