HELP! I'm desperate!

As you all know, I am 12 going on 13. This saturday is my Bar Mitzvah party (Mom's Jewish, Dad's Catholic). Theres going to be ALOT of people there and I have to sing and play 6 songs.

These are the songs:

Johnny B. Goode(Chuck Berry)
Crossroads(Cream)
Smooth(Santana)
Pride and Joy(SRV)
Stray Cat Strut(Brian Setzer)
Purple Haze(Jimi Hendrix)

All of this is going to be with my band.

Only problem is..... I can't sing!

Any advice on singing?

Man! 3 days... I think even Phips advices do not make you a singer in 3 days :D.

My only advices for this soon performance is:

Dont sing from throat, sing from deep, Sing loud, sing clearly,
Stand proud.

Last advice: DO NOT SING LIKE ME.

Okay, so I looked at these tips posted by Jazz a short while back, they sure helped me improve so take a look at them here: http://all-guitar-chords.com/lesson.php?id=101

And most certaintly adopt her breathing tips, all the advice was helpful but that I found for me was the best. And I suppose you oculd already be doing this, but every day/night listen to a CD of any track you want, you might or might not always want to practice with these songs but sing along with them. But when it comes to performing there live be louder but use the same technique, you don't want the live insruments to drown you out.

Yeah. And theres this throat spray called "Perfect Pitch" you can buy. Its worth a shot if you can't find someone. Or you could call Rob.

sing clearly, practice the song holding a pencil with the lips till it sounds clear enough.. try, do your best when it comes to reaching the notes...
be careful not to get sick nor sing so loud or so much your throat gets hurt. KEEPYOURTHROATHEALTHY
dont feel bad, sell your voice, if people think you know what your doing, itll be a good show.. show off in stage, say you dedicate the song to the public, without whom you wouldnt be there say thanks to mom and dad etc, make everyone feel involved. well say whatever you want, never look directly at the eyes or face of any person (recomendable), look above their faces, well bout the singin, i aint good so i cant tell you more, VIDEOTAPE IT and post it. i once sang in public, and like SHHIIT!!.. nobody said nothing, and the only song, that i think i can sing near to the real song by GNR, knockin on heavens door nor the drummer or bassist wanted to play it. it was a mess, worst gig ever, but bearable...
but u can be sure your gig wont be something for bad, but for good

I trust you have your reasons Littlewing, plus although it seems scary it's probebly the best time to start singing infront of people and at an event. Nobody can take the mick frankly. Sieze the opertunity. Although if you think that and are still worried sick, no matter. I think I still would too! Just practice the technique, even if it's in slim time you should still improve in it. Don't worry, once your up there perforing trust me, it ain't as scary as you think.

My choir teacher taught me to focus on a point like a couple feet from your nose and project loudly or something

Anyway, my pitch is pretty good, it's just that the tone of my voice sucks. Its very raspy and "forced out"

Haha I try. And by "Rob" I meant Robert Plant. lol. I just love his voice man. And if you can't sing it right, say that you are putting your own personal spin on the songs. It may suck, but hey, just say its YOUR version of the piece.

It's always good to start off with a little humor to get the crowd on your side and to relax yourself, so I came up with this for you.......
"Thank you, thank you, welcome! We're going to play a few of my favorite songs for you today and I'd just like to say, if my singing offends anyone please blame it on the Mohel". HAHA (try to walk with a bit of a limp)
As far as the singing goes I agree with Heather, check out Jazzy's lessons. do some warm ups, soft at first then loader of the scale.

If your pitch is good, dun worry about anything...it will sound good no matter what your sound is, thats only makes personal touch on it.
