It's like a chorus on crack but not as much crack a a phaser

It's really hard to describe but it's can be simular to a chours but has some added feedback that makes it a little more intense. If you like the clean guitar in Rooster by AIC that's a flanger.

Yeah, it sounds like a jet plane. It basically takes a copy of your guitar's signal, and plays it back ever so slightly later - less than 12ms for phasing, 12-20ms for flanging, 20 to 35 for chorusing, and beyond 35ms the repeated signal can be heard as a seperate sound, and it creates an echo (delay). 1000 ms = 1 second.

Boss' and Digitech's website have sound samples showing the capabilities of each pedal.

Its like an echo chamber, but without the echo. Making it sound good in a song that isn't a Pink Floyd cover is pretty hard though. Personal Opinion.

Don't tell that to Van Halen, Eddie used a flanger pretty religiously.
- Unchained
- Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love

Those songs are pretty recognizable, in fact, I'd say most people will probably associate Van Halen with the flanger rather than Pink Floyd :P

Yeah, actually now that I think about it I think he used a Phaser instead of a Flanger, but they're basically the same thing if you slow the Phaser down enough.

Flanger manipulates Delay and Pitch.
