Hippies time for me. 90s was awesome, and today's has some interesting and innovative stuff, so i chose 3: 60s-70s, 90s, and Today... Aside from the typical pop stuff. Though it has it's uses.

yeah. i just think with Dio's voice it gives them more freedom with what they play. because Dio has a larger range in what he can sing

Yeah, I'm into all styles of music; Classical, Jazz, Swing, Bebop, Blues, Soul, Funk, Metal, Fusion and so on.

I voted for today's music. A shame you don't understand why.

Some of it has REALLY good rhythm. Not lyrics though, some do though. Mainstream pop definetly doesn't. Mainstream has AWSOME rhythms though. Its over-production to a tee, but hey its catchy. One I like, but have been afraid to admit [Cos' I'm prolly one of the forum's known metalheads] is Kate Perry's "Hot N' Cold". Let the critisism begin....

I haven't even heard of the song. I tend to like pop stuff, but i'm not saying it's musically impressive, merely satisfies what they're trying to achieve.

I have my reasons for liking every style, I'll explain why someday.

Jeez, how many times has this argument come up?! The mainstream music of today is pretty poor, but there is loads of awesome stuff out there though.

I'm gonna say 80's cause everything has been done up to that point. Nothing new since new wave. And don't say "what about alternative?" Alternative is just rock from Seattle!

Saying that contemporary music sucks is in the same vein as saying rock n roll/heavy metal is the devil. You see what you choose to see, or in this case, hear what you choose to hear.

I voted eighties because by then all the crazy experimental stuff was not that cool anymore.

Plus I think Heavy Metal's Golden age was in the 80's

Although the big band era produced some sweet tunes.

I agree with Jazzmav. I've learned to like all kinds of music but not ALL music, some of it is disgraceful.

i don't know why people are hating on todays music. You obviously aren't looking in the right places. All of the mainstream artists today suck! But todays indie, alternative, and underground bands are amazing. They are just as creative as anyone else. For example bands like MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, The Killers, Coldplay, Muse, Grizzly Bear, Beach Fossils, Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon (not their new album), Neon Indian, Phoenix, Spoon, Weezer, The White Stripes, and many many more
