Metallica is my favorite band and will probably always be my favorite. This last album they did DeathMagnet sucks, in my opinion. Is Metallica going to fold? One other question? Where does James Hetfield stand in terms of tallent against Kirk?

The production quality of Death Magnetic was suprisingly poor, but all in all I think it's a great album, and most of the reviews I've read of it agree. I think Metallica now are a lot stronger than they were 5-6 years ago, and they'll be around for a few more albums yet.

As for the Hetfield vs Hammett thing, they're both different players. Kirk can't play rhythm like James, but James can't solo like Kirk.

ps. Surely you like Death Magnetic more than St. Anger!

never really been into metallica but I bought one of there cds the other day just to broaden my musical horizons. It was the "And Justice For All" cd. I chose an older album because I generally like older music. There where a few songs that I liked but I really didn't care for it that much.

death magnetic was better than i thought but unforgiven 3 was a bit of a let down to be honest. but on the whole a great album. and hetfeild v hammett? i think theyre on par really. i mean hammetts guitar ability is top notch compared to most and hetfeilds rhythm is very good. maybe if hetfeild did some more solos in metallica then we'd see how good he really is, from what ive heard from live dvd etc hes very good.

seeing them at the O2 in london when they come to the UK. i cannot wait!

@ Les Paul - Justice is okay. Try Master Of Puppets or Ride the Lightning. They're really good. In Justice though, Lars turned Jason's bass too far down so its a bit too raw for my liking.

And James vs Kirk? You really can't compare. James is one of the best rhythm players out their, and Kirk is a decent lead player. Not the best but good. So I guess with a gun to my head I'd sa James. As for DM. I like it. It gets old fast though. I love the instrumental on it though. And I like "Broken, Beat, and Scared" and "All Nightmare Long". It definetly whipped everything they've done since the Black Album too.

I would say my opinion of Death Magnetic is definitely favorable. It is even more so after hearing my godson say "You wike Metawicca? *Grunts and mumbles*" I'm not sure which song he's trying to sing, but it's still pretty darn cute.

I tend to agree with Ozzfan about Hetfield and Hammett. It's kind of hard to juxtapose the two since what they're trying to achieve in the band is so different; Apples to oranges. However, I do think that Hetfield is probably a better rhythm guitarist than Hammett is a lead. He comes up with great riffs that are just... locked in.

I put Metallica in with all those other bands that used to be something but are still recording.

They used to to be great now they are what they are.

james does the slow part of the Master of Puppets solo. i havnt listened to all of death magnetic, it was alright.
i like James more, because he does stuff other than play solos, and Kirk, by todays standards, is that good.

to be honest im surprised this hasnt become a Metallica/Megadeth debate already

i stopped listening to them after the black album, they are a different
band now. though it does seem they are trying to dig back into what
they were.i do dig the music itself off the new album, but james vocals
just suck.if i could buy the new cd as instrumental i would ;)

they will keep releasing crappy albums, because they know people are gonna buy it. I honestly believe they do not care about music, and are in for the money

Oh. Anyone hear where Lars said that the next 'Tallica album may be released via the internet? Which, is stupid, because then its way easier for people to ILLEGALLY download the album. Something that they have taken their OWN fans to court for. Thats a little pompous in my opinion.

Would you want to be friends with James if he woke you up at the crack of dawn, told you to get your things, that your out of the band and then drop you off at the nearest bus stop?
