I'm considering purchasing the Mbox 2 Mini for recording onto my macbook. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this, or would recommend something else to use?

I really want to find a way to connect a USB to my instruments.

Plus it comes with a "free" mic, so that sweetens the deal.

I've got a Firebox, and that works like a charm.

It depends on what you want to put in the box. I personally don't like that box you're showing but try it out for yourself, if you're interested.

define a good buy?

I think it would be a good interface but keep in mind that the reviews maybe a little jaded because the people who use pro-tools love it, and because of that they are locked in to using certain hardware. In other words you buy the hardware because of the software. If you gotta have pro-tools then get it.

Any more there are ton's of different interfaces on the market, I'm sure some are really good and cheaper if you don't mind living with out pro-tools

i need to get a microphone too, as my old one went to hell. so it was just convenient that it had both the things i was looking for in one package.

do you need phantom power and does the interface provide that? are you going to get a condenser mike or dynamic one?

probably phantom power, and i think the mbox mini provides it. probably a condenser mike. i dont really need anything fancy, this is just basic recording. im not looking to make a studio, just looking to have a little more clarity in my sound.
