My Steve Vai Cover (Improv)

So I just put it up on my myspace and its more of an improv towards the middle and end. Well here it is

Hey man, that was quite okay. It's obvious you have quite some technical ability. The important thing now is too look out not to play outside the scales too much [it's cool sometimes, I must admit, but IMO you're straying away too far a couple of times too]. Good luck with your playing.

BTW: post your recording gear :)

Thank you. Well what I did was I went from B minor pentatonic and used the 5 postions of the pentatonic (obviously) then I would slide around in the F# phrygian and then everyone once in a while I combined the D major (or ionian your preference) and F# phrygian in a run and I did a few sweep picks in a B minor arpeggio. So thank you for your comment, I will remember that next time I improv.

For recording gear I used a mesa boogie amp, with a schecter omen 6 with a marshall guv'nor distortion pedal, my overdrive on 6 on my amp, with 1/2 reverb, and a slight chorus pedal preset. I also turned my neck pickup on my guitar, and turned the tone down about 1/3 the way.
Oh and I used garageband.
