these are the FINAL 3 amps (unless of course i find another heh!)

kk anyway #1!!!

JMP-100 watt, MKII, slp, 1978 combo amplifier.

JTM-50 watt, MKII, 2005, reissue head.

JCM 800, 50 watt, 1984 head.

all those amps are insanly good but i found the jmp and thought it was cool. any feedback? i like them all, but the jmp is slightly ahead of the others and the tubes are new, then the jcm, then the jtm. i liked them all though. give me ur thoughts!

also what does the "mkII" mean/ do i know its good but what does it do. also same wth the super lead plexi. the back of the jmp said this: super lead MKII, what does that mean, also with the jcm800 it says 2204, i know thats 50 watts but whats the diff between a 2205 and 2203, the 05 is 2 channels i know and 03 is 1, but what is the 04 a mix?

i think the 2203 is 100W. the 2204 is very sought after and worth
some good $$ if kept in mint condition. i wouldn't touch the JTM
they are poorly designed in terms of tube placement and tend to
burn components because of it.

thats a very tough call between a plexi and the jcm800 both have their
places in music and both kick some serious ass. the 800 has alot
more gain though.

well the jmp has no gain. id just add disotrtion pedals and overdrive pedals. i kinda wana find a jmp or jtm head, if i can find one of those then i will prob take it. right now im leaning towards the jcm. but i found a slp in carle place i wana try and i think ill like, i think it was like 2000 tho lol. i need to find one used. also for disotortion pedals, i found tht i didnt like the mxr as much. not very good sustain. are ther any better pedals? im looking for an ozzy type disotortion level. are older mxr's good?

How much are they?

Try them out before you buy them, whichever one you prefer, go for.

id rather not say :) lets just say tooo much but im willing to spend. i tryed basicly everything in the store, i have tryed them. right now the jcm 800 is sounding good, but i still wana see what a jmp or jtm sound like as a head but im guessing will be too expensive.

JTM's should be very cheap as they are the least wanted models
i've seen JTM 60 2x12 combos on craigslist for $400-500
if by some odd chance you like the JTM get a head not a combo.

i'd be willing to bet the plexi is upwards of $1700.

there was a 1984 JCM800 full stack in my area not long ago for $1100.
i really wished i had the money at the time....

just a suggestion.....you might be interested in the randall rm100.
a 3 channel head w/hot swappable modules,modules come in a serious
variety from blackface to JVM and sound just like the originals.
used 1/2 stack can had for $1k including 3 modules. the best part is
if you get sick of one of the modules you can buy another one, plug
it in and go. there are also high gain modules like the kirk hammet
series that kick out serious gain at bedroom volume levels.
it's what i play on when i'm at my buddies shop.

kk fineeeee, the plexi combo is 1700 but its on consginment. i could lower it to 1500 and i think hed take it. i think ive eliminated the jtm reissue ive heard bad stuff bout those. anyone know anything about the jmp combos? im stuck between those 2. the jmp is prob a better price b/c the jcm is sold by sam ash for sam ash, the jmp is on consinment.

as for tone which is better? also can the plexi get enough distortion for ozzy. also i find tht the jcm 800 has a prob with sustain. the note just fades.

EMB5490 says:
JCM 800, 50 watt, 1984 head.

I dont know why but Ive tried some same models that sound radically different from each other.

someone probably swapped the 12AX7's for 12AT7's or 12AU7's to give it more clean headroom.

Someone changed the tubes to allow it to go louder with out breaking up/OD'ing itself.

you sure can take a peek at the tubes and see which ones are in there.
look at the smaller/shorter tubes and read the model/type. it will
read 12**7 there are several different numbers. what your looking
for is the 2 letters between the 12 and 7. those letters designate
WHEN the tube breaks up and distorts. AX is what you want it to read.
as this is the model that breaks up the soonest and has lots of gain.
anything else is a "cleaner" tube and allows the amp to be played at
a much louder volume w/o any distortion occurring.

hope that helps explain preamp tubes a little for ya ;)

yes thany you! what about not pre amp tubes, also my teach said tht the jcm 800 was made for 80s stuff, yet i play some 70s, and i find the opposite, the 800 is fantastic for 70s! the jmp however gets both tones also. randy rhoads used the slp 159 which the jmp is essencially tht. i play from a cleaner skynyrd sound to a heavy ozzy (early) sound. i like both amps and cant decide. the jcm 800 has a crunch that i would die for but i find it doesnt solo as well or sound as good.

haha. Is that your final answer?
You have three choices!
50-50?
Phone a friend?
Ask the audience?
