okay, so each time i meet a guitarist he ask me the same question "who is ur influence". well my answer is always "Jeff Loomis", but the truth hes not. i only answer that because hes a great guitarist and not alot of people know him. the guitatists that i see them the bands that r not known or people covering songs that i watch them on youtube and that other stuff is really what influenced me ... anyways i need to know some guitarist that i think i MUST know other than buckethead lol, so name me some great guitarists

Dimebag Darrell Abbott [RIP]
He played for a metal band called Pantera and is AMAZING.
Kirk Hammett
Metallica's lead man. Not THE best but always has soul in his playing and has AWSOME solos.
EVH. Duh.
PAUL GILBERT!!!!
I can't really explain it hes just amazing. There is this one Youtube vid of him playing so much on the doubleneck that he has one of his friends hold some of the string hes doing so much. Its insane.

Well thats just you my friend. And no, they are not feces, you just don't like them. No need to be like Baud and harass people about their likings. Although do check out Paul Gilbert.

PS. - EVH crap? He revolutionized hard rock guitar playing and made a whole nation copy him for nearly twenty years. Crap huh?

He may be all "Smarticle" and such but not yet has he been "Cool" to me so I'll choose to Un-Cool him back until his "Cool" side makes an appearance over the A-Hole-A-Of-Guitar-Ytolla side.

well u MUST know, it matters, chris broderick i forgot, he, jason becker, yngwie and alexi lahio are insane shredders and sweepers. randy rhoads...he just speaks for himself, it is IMPOSSIBLE to sound or be like him, he has the most unique sound and makes even the shittyest stuff sound good. he never did arrpegios, but made simple stuff sound incredible also a fantastic writer, allen collins is the king of southern rock. he has this style no 1 can beat, he is amazing as in a beautiful sound, but unque again, he made soooo much, it matters what ur into, u have to know them all, aalso take a peek at paul gilbert, great guitarist. not a big fan of evh, he ddnt invent tapping some 1 did it b4 him and almost every 1 then copied him. he knew nothing of music theory, scales, but like marty friendman, played what sounded good, marty howver made his own scales, also check him out, gr8 player, randy didnt copy evh, he took tapping and made wonders of it.

try this, take ur high e string pull it up then take it with ur left hand finger then put it away from the fretboard tht is away from the guitar and push down, u get a note much higher then if u have the kinda pcikups i do, take it to the 22nd fret and do tht cept push down on the pickups, u get an insanly high note, i didnt invent tht, i found it through my stupid mistakes, trying to do backwards bends, normal suckage, and just found it, doesnt make me a guitar g*d or mastermind just a retarded sucky player who found luck, my point is, w/o evh tapping and being credited with it, i dont belive hed be as famous.

ha ha lol i liked the high e string thin im gonna try it.. thanks alot thats what i needed to know, i try them all but paul gilbert and randy rhoads mostly they seem intersting..

he knew nothing of music theory, scales, but like marty friendman, played what sounded good, marty howver made his own scales, also check him out, gr8 player, randy didnt copy evh, he took tapping and made wonders of it.

i dont think thats a problem, maybe because its me too that i dont know about music theory and stuff

MArty Friedman (Neo-Classical +)
Tony Mcaplane (Neo Classical)
Alex Skolnick (Jazz Neo-classical Thrash)

if ur thinking of picking guitarists and studing and working on ther stuff, id go with technical and accurate players, randy rhoads, paul gilbert, allen collins, maybe add a classical guitarist if u like classical music, dont study marty friedman, he makes his own scales and doesnt follow "rules" not the best idea but hes sooo good it doesnt matter, hard to study becker b/c he has als, and randy died, same with collins, it matters what u like tho, for me if thers sweeping in a song, generally its too heavy. randy is the heaviest i go but gilbert is gr8.

Bradley Nowell (Sublime)... not technically great, but underrated innovator.
Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Dylan, Paul McCartney/John Lennon, Tom Morelli (Rage)

You will not find just one...b/c you can't really compare w/o setting controls (ie. most accurate) b/c this is all subjective. But now you have a relatively short list.

Stevie Ray Vaughan
Brandon Small (Does both lead and rhythm guitar for the comic band 'Dethklok' from AdultSwim's 'metalocalypse')
Dave Mustaine
Slash
Dave Murray
Adrian Smith
Janick Gers
Kevin 'Noodles' Wasserman

May know of a few of them and gain a form of influnce from them, don't really care if you like them or not, just throwing some more names out there like.
Also you can have more then one guitarist for influnce.

I would say John McLaughlin as my inspiration, also a friend of mine which none of you know, whome I've watched improve greatly in two years, who's already surpassed me and catching up to a very impressive Jazz musician; "Chanan Hanspal".

I mean no offence here, but just because someone made a jazz album ONCE doesn't mean he or she is a Jazz musician. There are a lot of people who make collaborations with different styles, but they're still not classed as that genre. Because the rest of their stuff is something else.

It doesn't matter what other people think about what you like, it's just what you like. You're yourself, so it's all good.

I haven't got a clue who any of those people are though, apologies.

baudelaire, but he is. The Alex Skonlik trio band made jazz versions of random songs...

And he was on a few jazz albums too...
