Skold, just because someone can doesn't mean they should. It's like you just forgot that people write music to express themselves, not to show off. And as for Jack White, he does that. He's not exactly a bad musician, he just doesn't play technical stuff. Like Nightmare just said... he must be doing something right.

(Oh yeah, baude, link us to some of your music and we can all judge who is better between you and Jack White).

I'm not talking about showing off. It's just, it might seem like a waste to not show your true potential.

Nightmare, I've seen Miley Cyrus on TV, but that doesn't mean she's good.

Ah, I see. Well, I would think it would be due to the fact that none of us are quite at the "producing" level and what not. Then again, I think Emp has some skill in that area.

It's never that easy, obviously. Most of it is being in the right place at the right time, and knowing the right people.

the public is fickle, stupid, and have lowbrow tastes. your MUSIC is the least important thing to record labels, and the masses that want entertainment. jack white is where he is because he:

A)is attractive

B)has a memorable voice

C)sings about things common people can relate to

D)and makes music that people are comfortable with, because it demands no attention and they've heard it a hundred times before.

as for me not being on TV, remember that for every randy rhoads that manages to get to the public, there are 100 just as talented that will never release a record...

besides, i'm not talented enough to write songs that i will be happy with, and i refuse to degrade myself and write shitty rock songs like jack white and most rock bands. so i'm not good enough to write what i want to, and i have too much vision to write what i can.

and actually about miley cyrus... her music is meaningless, but she is QUITE talented and professional at what she does. she has EXCELLENT stage presence and showgirlship. she's for kids, what do you WANT out of her, musically?

I want her to get out of music, and just do her little movies and tv shows. That way, I won't have her "music" shoved into my ears on a daily basis.

oh, it's shoved into your ears? she comes into your home, aims a gun at your brain, and tells you to put the headphones on and listen to her music? like how if you get fat eating mcdonalds, you can sue them for chasing your car down and ramming meat down your throat?

You are over exaggerating, baud. You know very well what I meant, so stop acting like such a child.

bodom, i don't hate him, i just wish he were starving... and i don't dislike the fact that he's attractive, i dislike that people buy albums because of that.

and skold, really, you're overdoing it.

Just because all the little girls buy her albums it doesn't mean she's better than me. Have you ever heard my music? Look through some of my threads, and you'll find that I am far and away a better musician, writer, and overall composer than her.

Also, you seem to forget that my father isn't someone with all the right connections in the music biz. Honestly, my father is another musician trying to make it on his talent, not his father's name.

Fact.

LOL. I dont knnow why anyone would want an Artist model guitar unless they like collecting guitars.

Jack White's vocals are not unique. They are very similar to traditional blues singing. He sings them in a high register. I must admit I do like some of their songs. Most popular musicians arent successful because of their musical ability. If people judged music in its complexity and meaning, Hip Hop and some Techno would be considered laughable and would only serve as a form of comedy.
Todays popular music is merely for entertainment.

Mozart was not considered badly by his peers. well maybe when he first started truth be told i don't like Mozart nor know that much about his early years. Beethoven for one chase him around trying to become his pupil

these threads really get off topic huh someone should be in charge of ending em

no... mozarts music was severely disliked in his time - it was too dark and dissonant for them. haydn and some other fine musicians liked him, but the masses and most musicians despised mozart. as i said, he died penniless, and was buried in some ditch with no tombstone.

and skold, i don't know if that's your way of getting back at me for a imaginary wrong i did you that you think is along the same vein, but your comment is... dumb. it doesn't even make any sense from YOUR side of it.

ok baud. you got me (but technically his peers are Beethoven and such) like i said i don't know too much about Mozart (don't like his music) so in the end any comment i make on him is bullshit but i do know that certain minor scales pattens were strongly frond apron in the past and I'm too lazy to validate like i normal due so I'll take your word on it. but Beethoven was loved in his time and they were both alive at the same time at one point (base of my original argument)

(edit) sadly (or not depends) my lust for knowledge outweighs all so after a quick brain argument that could not be put to rest I went to Wikipedia (not the best place but it serves) it is true Mozart did have his ups and down but he was largely liked by the public made a good deal of money. and yes at the time of his death he was down money wise but the gave thing turns out to be a culture custom of his (supposedly had no one at his burial).

skold... i did not in any way, shape or form compare mozart to miley cyrus. you MADE THAT UP. it's NOT TRUE. a LIE. a FALSEHOOD. the product of a SLOW MIND.

that's why you're dumb.

have you read his letters? he frequently is upset at the shit he has to make in order to make money, and how little people like the music he made for art's sake and not moneys. he eventually put his foot down, and said that he would no longer make music for money, and his popularity went down like the stock market in the couple weeks. leading to his destitution until his death.

So Strat it is? No? More time to argue? Ok, go. Done? Good. IMO Gibson Les Paul is the sexiest guitar in the world, but way out of price range. I think most Fender strats run about $1,000 USD, so you may be able to pick one up w/ a bit of bargain hunting. Or you may be able to find a diamond in the rough, but I'd say 9 times out of 10 you pay for what you get.

If a tree falls in the forest and I don't hear it, does that mean I'm deaf or just completely missed the point of the exercise?
