So, if you were given the chance, what's the weirdest instrument you would try out?

Can be more than one. Or you could just post a strange instrument you found.

BEHOLD!

THE HARP PIANO!

besides the upright position of the strings and no covering, whats the difference between a harpiano and a piano/harpischord?

lol thats the great thing about a theremin you look at it like o.O. its an electrocic instrument which when you move your hand closer to one of the aerials it changes the pitch of a note and the second aerial changes the volume. its very cool stuff

like that

I LOVE the theremin! haha

I have a diddgeridoo :D They're hard work, but great to play.

Baudelaire, I think it's basically two instruments pratically glued together. Not quite sure how they're going to play the harp part though.

Empirism, the first part of that video, I thought it was like a new verson of a Koto, but it seems like a Piano instead, weird!

Speaking of Koto...

Bei Bei - Personally I love her work, she's amazingly talented. She signed my CD when I bought it, which was pretty cool.

I found this on the internet along time ago and saved the pic. I don't remember where it came from but I thought it was the coolest guitar I'd ever seen.

I figure the top guitar's strings are drone strings or whatever.

I'm not sure how the heck anyone can play either of them! I'm upset now, I thought I kicked bum on the chromatic harmonica, but then that thing comes along and I've no idea! :(

The guitar's realy crazy, although I have to admit it does look like a strange ornament from first glance.

I'm building a theremin with some friends tonight.

Paige playing the theremin seems like a gimmick to me. Professional "Thereminists" can really make that thing sing.

Whoa, that's pretty strange... How big is the top one? It looks like a tooth pick.

Those were the original shapes for banjos, weren't they?

Yes, I believe so. I think that banjos started out in Africa, and they used what they had for materials. I kind of want to make one, since my dad grows gourds for fun, so I have those at hand. I'm not sure how to do the neck though.

I may just make a drum out of one: Cut the top off and spread a skin over it and fasten it with tacks or something.

That would be so much fun, would you take a picture of it when you've finished making it? :D

Where do you plan on getting the skin though? I've never actually made one before, so I'm not really sure.

I'm not sure on that, so I'll definitely have to do some research. I've actually made some maracas out of gourds, and they sound okay. I cut a hole in them, and put pebbles in one and sand in the other. Then I put the piece I cut out back on, and fastened it with wood putty. Then I painted them.

Maybe I could make all my instruments out of gourds. I think an amp built into a gourd would be sick. :P

Hell yes that is the best idea going "gourd amps" i can see it now
Tabla's are made out of gourd and there the best drums going in my opinion (can't be use of all purposes of course nothing can) i just love that bass drum sound when they change the pitch . i want a set then i just need a teacher for those Indian timings additive rhythm ****s
