Ive been playing all sorts of genres in my 5 years of playing. From the red hot chili peppers, to racer x, and buckethead. Lately ive been getting in to Jason Becker, a neoclassical metal guitarist. And since he covered a song by niccolo paganini, Ive been getting into classical stuff. So far I know Buree in Em and 24th caprice by paganini. SO my question is, what are some challenging or lyrical classical pieces for guitar?

Flight of the Bumblebee. I always had fun playing that one on guitar.

My personal favourite to play on guitar though, is Guardian Angels by John McLaughlin.

It's challenging to those who aren't used to playing those positions and string skipping.

Yea I know what flight of the bumblebee is. And I use to play it a lot. I think baudelaire really hit this one on the head. Why was he the worst composer? His caprices where awe inspiring. Just because he followed the neoclassical genre doesn't make him less of a composer as any of the others. And the website classtabs.com doesn't exist.

it's either .net or .org

It's only experience, anyway. Everything's worth trying if it has some sort of challenge.

paginini's compositions are all pretty much chopped together exercises on scales. they're so annoyingly trite, simple, and common, i want to punch him... they ought to simply be considered etudes. just because he was fast, and a good showsman, doesn't mean his music is worth jack shit.

Is that why Malsteem sounds so repetitive?

Try compositions by Isaac Albeniz. They sound awesome on guitar. They require a lot of practice and the fingerpicking is insane.

i don't know WHY malmsteem is boring; i only know he is.

he's arrogant, too. my dad used to drive taxis in LA, and he drove malmsteem back to his hotel with his girlfriend once. well, he and his girl were arguing, and at one point yngwie slaps her, HARD, and yells, "bitch, YOU are the girlfriend, I am the rock star. if you don't like that, i'll tell the driver to pull over, i'll dump you out and then get another just like you".

well michael angelo batio's music is shit too, just because he can play fast, as follows your logic baudelaire. And for buckethead he has a killswitch on his guitar, some wah pedals, overdrive, and some bitcrusher. For his clean songs he uses two types of chorus pedals, reverb with slight delay, and a fast echo i believe. And malmsteen isn't nearly as fast as batio. However, they both write repetive music with no soul. But malmsteen wins slightly on that note.

Any of you guys read the Guitar World Column with Damn.... I forgot his name but I think its Richard Lloyd?. The column is called The Alchemical Guitarist and its awesome. I totally understand everything he explains and its very useful. As for Batio's column I understand it but its like a triathlon for your fingers and I lose interest fast.

Baudelaire, are you serious about Malmsteen? I knew he was cocky and self absorbed but holy crap! If I was your Dad I would have driven off to some old place, tied him up and left him there. Take the girl to her hotel or something first, of course.

I say that a lot about most girls who have shit relationships. But I think it's their esteem that makes them believe there's nothing better, though. There's definitely something in their minds that draws them back to tragedy.

any Bach comp. for lute, namely (b-word) in e minor, (dislaziya kicks my ass), or for good measure Greensleeves and if your trying to play these with a flat pick stop not saying a pick is bad just any good guitarist can play with his fingers there is plenty of ways to do this one evolves using a flat pick (not recommend but hell it worked for so many famous rockers) that and try flamenco or jazz

forget e minor sorry
