Hi, long ago that I don't post here, welcome to the new members here. I want some recomendations for a good overdrive pedal to overdrive a tube amp, the amplifiers are: one is the epiphone valve junior and the other is a crate v18. Thanks

Boss ME 20 is a pretty awesome pedal, might want to check that out.

the electro harmonix lpb 2ube stereo preamp - easily the best option for overdrive - period. it has 2 tubes in it, and you can use it to simply fatten your tone up and make it sweeter, or you can gang the channels and run one tube into the other to create a rich, natural even order harmonic overdrive/distortion. and you can get a LOT of sounds out of it; turning volume 1 up all the way and volume 2 half way will get a entirely different sound then turning 2 up all the way and 1 halfway. it can be used to drive 2 amps at once, as well, and can work as a preamplifier for any device. it costs 189 dollars in america. it's WELL worth it; once you use it, you will probably ALWAYS play through it, even if it's just for what it adds to your clean tone.

im pretty sure they are not going to have the LPB 2ube in the store, but if you bought it online, you could still return it if you didn't like it. but i promise you will.

^ I've never tried the one Baud is recommending but I have heard samples, and it sounds incredible. If you're looking to spend less, check out the Ibanez TS9 (100 USD) or if you're really strapped for cash, the Digitech Bad Monkey (50 USD) or Boss SD-1 (50 or 60 I think).

I'd recommend saving as much cash as you can though, since the Digitech and Boss sound kind of fake and weak to me. Hard to find great things at that price though. Maybe look into buying used for the more expensive things? I don't know how much selection there would be in P.R. though....

I had the boss DS-1 and it sucked ass. No matter what kind of music you play stay away from that pedal.

you've probably played the new, cheap, made in china model. my friend has a original American made DS-1, and it's like a whole different pedal. it kicks ass.

if you can find a old american made one on ebay, it's worth the 200.

Yea, mine was new. The original is probably a lot better.

i personally prefer to just overdrive the amp itself. i find most
overdrive pedals leave the amp lacking any bottom end it had.

analog man has some great pedals.

an analogman modded boss ds-1, or sd-1 replaces the cheap foriegn parts. also, the SD-1 mod has an option to insert TS808 circuitry i believe.

is it? i just assumed it was american made, if it was later outsourced to be made cheaper.

either way, the originals are great.

OK, I have gone to some shops and none have the EH LP2UBE,I have tested the BOSS ME20 and sounds good, but they recomended to change the tubes on the amp and put good tubes and then test a EH LPB1 to get overdrive from the amp and not from external effects. What would be best?

^ Well, I would say get a pedal if you want a little extra "oomph" to your sound, than what overdriving the amp by itself will give you. Especially on your Valve Junior, since it doesn't have a gain control (just volume).

Also, you could probably get better OD at lower volumes with a pedal. (not sure about this though).

order that lpb2ube, online, and they are probably just trying to sell you tubes. if worst comes to worst, you can return it.

and make sure you get a patch cable so that you can gang the channels on the pedal, in order to make it function as a OD/distortion unit.

Try an Ibanez tube screamer or an SD-1 overdrve. If you want super amazing distortion, get a big muff.

Yep. That's what I was going to say. The Ibanez Tube Screamer. I've had a lot of overdrives over the years and this one is my fave.

no not all Digitech actually, i want to get the Metal Master one it's awesome. but never try to get Snarling Dogs "Black dog", cause i bought one and dont ask me why. when i heard it at the store it was nice, but when i tried it at home, it really doesnt sound good..
