zoom g1 and the little giant. the epiphone valve head blows, the killer ant will have 0 headroom, digitech almost always sucks, zoom is good.

Yeah, i thought zoom too... I have also POD, but dun sure how they would work together... I also thought if i buy midi pedal to POD instead of zoom, but it might be handy that they are in same box when gigging.

how that epi blows?

well, it has no real headroom, and it sounds toneless, flaky, and awful when driven, and the cleans are really flat. blackheart, on the other hand, rocks.

well, on correction, the killer ant DOES have an average amount of headroom... i just like INCREDIBLE head room, where i can get it REALLY loud and still have it crystal clean.

which is why my band will be selling our crate v100 heads, all 4 of them, and replacing them with bugera 333 heads. 120 watts, and more headroom then i've ever heard before, besides the fact that they sound wonderful. sort of a laney/mesa combination.

I agree with baud on this one, the Little Giant seems to be the way to go. The Epiphone is supposed to have fairly early break-up, so you can't crank much before it starts to OD itself.

The Killer Ant is only 1 watt right? You won't really have much headroom on it, since it's so easy to reach it's max volume that it will begin breaking up before becoming loud.

If you don't use cleans much than I guess this won't matter as much, but it's still good to have the versatility. Plus, with more head room, whatever distortion/OD pedal you use will sound clearer without the amp OD'ing by itself.

^ I'm not sure what that is... I googled it and it came up with Velvet Underground albums. So is it like a real thick fuzzy tone? I'm not too familiar with Velvet Underground so I'm not sure what they sound like. I know they did a lot of weird stuff like Ostrich Tuning, so I'm guessing it's a weird noise thing.

listen to the song sister ray on youtube. they got that sound by taking a bad tube amp, and putting 3 OD pedals in front of it.

Cool, thanks for the replies.. Killer ant is a bit cheaper than Little giant, but I think I must turn to little giant then :)

Cheers!

little giant with a bitmo triple bypass mod. the mod gives 3 voicings
at the flick of a switch. (marshall plexi, fender sparkly, vox ac30)
everyone who has ever played mine was blown away by the tone. i use
a custom made 2x12 w/celestion g12h-30's. just a far warning the
BH5H is still very loud through a 2x12 or 4x12. so if your looking
for more bedroom friendly volume, you may want the ant killer w/the
bitmo ant eater mod.

$179 for BH-5H
$30 for bitmo kit-worth every penny bar none.

both amps sound good out of the box,but they sound great with the mods.

right now i'm rockin a 3/4 stack

And you can actually play that in your house?!

Damn... I wish I lived there. I don't even have room for something that big!

Wow, nice stuff there ^_^, Luckily for my neighbours and wife, ive planned my setup only for gigging (we do few in a year, mostly parties) sure it could be cool to have little more power, but money talks and Im poor...perfect to play blues :P.

when I playing at home, ill use headphones directly from effectchains or by POD connected to PC.

i'm pretty lucky where i live. all the neighbors attend berkley :)
i can play as loud as i like from like 3-9pm. this is only a 5W
3/4 stack.though i'm pretty sure my neighbors really hated me when
i had the old 135W all tube fender twin or the 150W marshall
1/2 stack, those were just discustingly loud.

@ Empirism
i'm not exactly rich either.i'm a single dad w/3 teenage girls.
almost everything i have i bought through craigslist for short $$.
the marshall VS100 1/2 stack i got for $100,then sold the head for
$100,so i got a free 4x12 out of the deal. i actually paid retail
for the blackheart and mod. the custom 2x12 i bought for $150 on
craigslist and it came loaded w/g12h-30's. the 4x12 is leaving this
weekend for $100 so i think of it as getting the 2x12 for $50. so
bottom line on my blackheart and custom 2x12 is $260. which isn't
really breaking the bank and still cost less than any 1x12 tube amp
of any wattage :)
