Those names are what they're called. G is the note G. The numbers mean the main note from which the chord is derrived. So, it's a G chord, also using the 13th and what not. basically the best way for you to understand this is to match it to the scale. so go to the scale thing on this site, show it on the whole fretboard, and if you already know the chord put it ontop of the scale, and you'll be able to see how it's made.

This could also help you to see the notes clearer on the fret board.

I strongly encourage you to try learning these yourself. They're also on the chords tool thing on this website. Do you know how to use it?

+ means major or # (sharp)
- means minor or flat

I'll post up the chords soon.

With numbered chords, aren't you just adding the note from the scale that matches that number?

Also,, b is also the sign for flat as well.

I don't know if I've ever seen "-" or "+" used to indicate major, minor, sharp, flat or any combination of the aforementioned. Weird.

your level of writing is a good indicator. your level of intelligence. some stupid people write well; no smart people write like that, though.

We dont need smart people here, we need ordinary people who are open and kind that we can be like we are and ask and write our problems and opinions without being mocked by people that have no rights or even valid ground on it, even we have culture or age that affect our writings.

@ Empirism

nicely put.

And by the way, hello!

@ Bandilegs:- Speaking of writing, your own is atrocious. You need to take care over capitals at the beginning of sentences and your punctuation is all over the place.

Yeah, I also meant to put a b there to indicate flat, ah well.

I get why Baudelaire doesn't bother with capitals; because it takes less effort and time to hold the shift key, and everyone still knows what he's on about.

oh no, he doesn't use keys. he uses his superior intellect to telepathicly transmit his thoughts into the computer! (or maybe the word is sociopathicly)

I am starting to doubt that you are even a guitarist. Every question you answer sounds like something you found in a text book somewhere and copied word for word. If you don't have an answer (or can't find one) you lash out. If you ask me that shows the level of your intelligence. No one likes a prick!

i'm not a prick; YOU are too sensitive. toughen up.

my advice is profound and knowledgeable. don't bash me because you have a thin skin and get all butt hurt every time somebody says something you don't like.

Ha, Ha, I have been called a lot of things in my life but never to sensitive. Thanks!

Calling someone stupid because you don't like the way they write isn't being a prick?

Also, "YOU are too sensitive. toughen up." not sure but I think you used the wrong to.

I didn't see that comment EMB! hahaha, revenge will be mine.

Was it helpful though? Depends on the positions and stuff, but that's the jist of those chords.

I think we're all still improving, I'm not going to choose sides here but Baudelaire does know his stuff, he's given some pretty good info and advice in previous topics. He does help us out. And he is just giving his opinion in his own way. As unpleasent as it is to all of you.

But yeah, even though some people are amazing in English, there are still a fair amount of people who type "lik dis... lolzor". That's just how it is now.

Make love, not war, guys...

right on...

He's going to post his songs later when he gets the equipment. He's mentioned that in his topic on his lyrics.

Also, the cool thing about those people who sound like they know stuff and then look it up, is that they actually look it up. Then they know what they've looked up. "That, was educational!" :D

Everyone's an asswhole at times, I'd say. Shouldn't meet me when I wake up at 6am!

Hmmm, well, Jazzy I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. It's my impression that he's gone well out of his way to be disliked. I think it is his intention to be disliked, and certainly from the many comments you can see that he has succeeded. He has earned the comments and worked hard for them.
I respect your opinion, and i'll try to be a bit more tolerant, but pushing drugs to kids is my limit. And he loves it!!! I mean he literally loves it.

Yeah, I am sorry for bringing that up, I really didn't mean to upset anyone.

I really respect you Phip.

I just don't want anyone here to get into major arguements, that's why I don't want this topic's arguement to continue.

I find it even worse when everyone starts on someone, even if that person is in the wrong. I just don't think it's fair.

it's not my intention here to convince anyone i'm really good. frankly, i don't care whether you think i'm good or not. it is my intention to learn here, by answering questions, and if i can't answering a question, studying until i can, and then answering it. the best way to learn is to teach.

if i happen to while away some time in discussion, and in the statement of my opinions and beliefs, create enemies, that is fine too. it doesn't bother me; if you get upset and all hot under the collar because someone is different, you're the one losing here, not me. if you hate me for who i am, then remember that hatred is the burden of the hater, not the hated. the only person you're hurting is yourself.

and LOL at phip thinking i'm pushing drugs to kids. Hey! kid! want SOME DRUGS? here give me your address, i'll MAIL YOU SOME HEROIN! WITH A DIRTY NEEDLE! HA HA HA!

LOL. alarmists. yep, that's me, the internet DRUG PUSHER. i PUSH DRUGS onto kids, i practically hunt them down and put needles in them in their sleep. apparently, that, and giving them truthful, honest information from which they can make a informed, intelligent choice, and suggesting that they experiment with safe drugs and avoid dangerous ones, is the moral equivalent of going onto a elementary playground and handing out crack.

LOL at myself, I spelt asshole wrong. THAT was funny.

I didn't know that the best way to learn was to teach though, that's pretty damn cool. It definitely helps to keep those things fresh in your mind, though.
